  1. In terms of "characters" who have played for us, I can't think of many more notable ones in recent years, need to go back to Gazza to find someone who had more of a stand out persona.
  2. His record, just for anyone who is interested. Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 1997–1998 Martigues 36 (5) 1998–2000 Chamois Niortais 46 (5) 2000–2004 Le Mans 129 (44) 2004–2007 RC Lens 101 (26) 2007–2008 Rangers 28 (11) 2008–2010 Hull City 30 (4) 2010 → Larissa (loan) 9 (2) 2010–2011 Larissa 36 (8) 2011– Sapins National team‡ 2000– Gabon 30 (9)
  3. Given the current situation, I believe he would be either starting or coming off the bench every game.
  4. I'd say so yes, not one Rangers fan will forget who he is for a long time. Maybe a folklore legend, as opposed to a playing legend, but everyone remembers the role he played in Helicopter Sunday, so I believe he is without a doubt, a legend.
  5. I agree that we should have signed someone in January, I just think there are people saying "don't sign him", but the only alternative they are offering is time travelling to a transfer window to sign someone. Realistically, we need a striker, so if people don't want Cousin, they could really state an alternative, otherwise, our alternative is our current squad, and crying into our cornflakes about having no strikers.

  7. I take that as a positive personally, if you can score ten goals for a club that gets relegated, you must be doing something right.
  8. Not an impressive record, I'll admit, but we need to remember where he went. Hull City while they were in the Premiership... Without degrading the SPL, it is a bit harder to score for a struggling team in the Premiership.
  9. Precisely, I think even if Cousin wasn't 100%, he'd be a worthwhile signing to sit on the bench and come on every game at the 75minute mark and bully tired defenders, I think he'd even be worth the risk for that, any extra body in the striking area I believe is a step forward, especially one in the shape of Cousin.
  10. Ah, I wonder why Hemmings didn't come on vs United then and we finished with Little and Kerkar. Surely that says a lot about the belief in his ability. Also, I think Lafferty coming back is brilliant, but I doubt he'll come back from six(?) weeks out and be firing them in straight away, he'll need some time, and even at that - Healy, Lafferty, Little, Hemmings, and Kerkar (although I'd assume he'll go back to being a sub left winger) isn't brilliant, even Cousin on the bench coming on and bullying players in the second half I believe, would be brilliant.
  11. On a six month contract he'd be fighting for a new deal either here or elsewhere.
  12. Right, so a lot of people don't seem to be happy with the fact that we are looking to re-sign big Dan. I personally believe that what Cousin is, is a big tall, strong, striker, with a decent-ish scoring record who can bully players out the game, exactly what we need, and I think he and Healy would be a decent front pairing in the short term in all honesty. Our current options up front, taking away the injuries to Laff, Naisy and Hemmings, are Healy, Little and Kerkar? I'm shocked that anyone on here is knocking back any striker coming to us right now, even if he is much older and a bit less fit. I'm looking at our current forwards goal tally's for this season, and wondering how Cousin would not be a step forward. I want to know what the nae-sayers suggest to be an alternative option, simply keeping what we have and wallowing in the misery of not buying a striker on the past? Moving on and signing Cousin? Or ignoring Cousin, and signing some other free agent - and if the latter, what one?
  13. Also Daily Record's take on it, a few of my mates linked it on FB and it's got an interview with Willy McKay. (Only reason I read it, but it's actually a decent article.
  14. I'll probably get hunted and lynched for this, but I think he's exactly what we're looking for. Big tall, strong, striker, with a decent-ish scoring record who can bully players out the game, I think he and Healy would be a decent front pairing in the short term in all honesty. Our current options up front, taking away the injuries to Laff, Naisy and Hemmings, are Healy, Little and Kerkar? I'm shocked that anyone on here is knocking back any striker coming to us right now, even if he is much older and a bit less fit, I believe we should snap up Daniel Cousin, look at our current forwards goal tally's for this season, and tell me you don't think Cousin would do better? I never normally agree with us bringing back former players, as I believe everyone has a nostalgic mind that sees only the good that happened while they were there (obviously not the case by reading this thread), but looking at the bigger picture in terms of our club and squad, I'd happily have Cousin back. Even if he is unfit, and even if he turns out to be a bit of a diddy, I believe he's worth the risk, as he may indeed do a job here.
  15. What a thread. I take back my Al Jolson thread comment, this is thread of the year.
  16. I wouldn't say anything, wouldn't waste my time looking under rocks to find them.
  17. This was an interesting read, and , quite frankly, I can see it from both sides. I studied media and journalism so I can see why journalists would jump on our situation, it's not bias, it's simply ruthless exploitation to make them money, sensationalism of negative events sells, and also, newspapers are corrupt as fuck, as everyone knows anyway, I know this from working for one week as a trainee at a top Glasgow paper. I can see why people think there is bias, at first I didn't believe it, and I used to mock my Dad when he gave it the "Daily Ranger" chat and said people were against Celtic, however, even if everything the paranoid people are saying (and that is not derogatory, that is just the simplest form of saying 'people who think set organisations have an agenda against my team), I think we should ignore them completely and concentrate on the togetherness of the club. Surely the uproar about it helps too, they get publicity out of it, and hence more success and financial gain. We are Rangers, we should not complain or make any excuses, we are better than that.
  18. I love big Marvin, and that is a brilliant photo. Get him back in some kind of role.
