Steven Gerrard To Aston Villa - Official
JCDBigBear replied to The Dude's topic in General Football & Sport
There is no credible evidence that he is definitely leaving Ibrox. If Gerrard or RFC announce that he is leaving, that will be credible. -

I don't read the papers. -

He may well be on the list but so are others. They can't all be Villa's next manager. I'll wait to see what transpires. -

There is no credible chat of which I'm aware. Rumours in the media and on forums aren't credible. I don't believe in getting into a lather over what at present is still only speculation. Gerrard may leave us or he may stay with us. Just now it's like waiting on the toss of a coin. My post was simply a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour. -

My point is that it is all rumour and speculation and if he doesn't go then some posters will be a bit red-faced. To be even-handed then, if he does go some others will be embarrassed due to their posts. -

If Gerrard doesn't go to Villa there will be a few embarrassed posters on here. -

I'd like to think Gerrard is better now than when he arrived. Beale has spent most of his career coaching kids. The degree of Beale's influence on Gerrard and the team is unknown to us. You say Beale can't be underestimated but you must consider that he can also be overestimated. -
That's only from the first half. What a night that was. Played them off the park when Bayern were one of the World's very top clubs at that time. They won 3 German League titles in a row and the same squad won 3 European Cups in a row. The German national team had a nucleus of these Bayern players when winning the following World Cup. Rangers were magnificent that night, so good in fact that the Germans had an on-field argument among their players and they chucked it. One of the greatest games by Rangers that I've ever seen. As much as I enjoyed Florence, beating Bayern that night was better.

So you'd give the job to a man with no previous experience but you rate him anyway? I'm mystified about this as if he is so good then why is he not managing another club on his own. If he's so good why do we need Gerrard? You worry about taking a gamble on another person with managerial experience but you'd take a gamble on someone totally unproven. You say we could do a lot worse than Beale whereas I'd like to think we could do a lot better than him. -

Why would you consider Beale? Serious question. -

I'd be surprised if Gerrard would leave us at this juncture. I'd be disappointed in him as we aren't playing well at the moment and on a bit of a knife edge with difficult games coming up. It would be a different story if we were playing really well, 10 points clear and confidence was very high but that just isn't the case. -
I have no idea about any Roma bid, I simply commented on his (strange to me) behaviour after that game. I haven't been the only one to comment on that.

Firstly, I don't moderate honest opinion. I simply try to stop posters abusing each other and try to prevent totally unacceptable posts from being posted on the Forum. We lost £23.5 million last year, or hadn't you noticed? Yes Covid had a huge impact but the majority of us still paid for season tickets.. We all bought the (seriously over-priced) merchandise. We were supposed to make a profit on player sales, in 3.5 years when has that happened? Do you actually think that I like to criticise our Club??? I want the best for us on and off the park. Goldson hasn't signed a new contract with us and in December he'll be 29. He can sign a pre-contract just after that and goes for zilch in the summer. Barisic looked like he had played his last game after beating the tims. Wtf was his "final" lap of honour about? It certainly wasn't the usual after-match applause. He definitely looked like a player on the way out. I'm not in the least impressed with our recent signings in the summer. Sakala, Lundstram, Bacuna, Ofoborh. Have any been remotely a success? We can't give away the flops we have signed such as Hastie & Barker. Simpson still has 3.5 years on a contract???? We have played about 20+ games this season and hardly any have been good to watch. If the tims hadn't been struggling the RM and every other RFC forum would be going mental. I love Gerrard for his demeanour and press conferences. I'm struggling with the playing side of our club though. If you have read down to this point then please tell me which parts of my post are shit and give your opinion. This is not a flippant request, I'm totally serious. In fact, it is exactly what RM is for.

Sakala did next to nothing. I'm not into the "hate Morelos" new group. Morelos at least "scored" and had a few other decent attempts. His ridiculous 3rd minute booking restricted him for the rest of the game. Sakala was ineffective (as were most of the team). I really don't see a good player in Sakala, especially for our Club. Motherwell game was a fluke.

Morelos put the ball in the net. Oh, and I doubt that the ball was out on the cross.
-
Ross Wilson is an overrated failure. Wilson, Gerrard and our own board have missed the boat in terms of capitalising on last season. Their miscalculation has cost us literally millions. It actually hurts to look at that.

Time someone at Rangers woke up to this total waste of money.
-
What a waste of time and money. The quality of football is truly awful and God knows what the Rangers coach does. Tactics are a joke.

With what is available, how does Gerrard change it?
JCDBigBear replied to The Ibrox Derry's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
Goldson should have been given an ultimatum at the end of last season, either sign a contract or find a new club (preferably the latter for me). I'd have sold Hagi and Kamara. I'd never have signed Simpson and Bassey. Nor would I have signed Lundstram, Bacuna, Ofoborh. The on-loan Itten doesn't fit our style of play so no wonder he's out on loan.. No idea what position Sakala is meant to be but he is no substitute for Morelos. The squad needed to be refreshed and that didn't happen. We have missed a great opportunity and Ross Wilson and others are responsible. Tonight's result isn't the reason for this post, it could have been said weeks ago.
