  1. When the 2004 rights issue is brought up as proof of Murray putting his own money into Rangers it is often forgotten that the rights issue brought his % stake in Rangers back up to 85% at a fraction of the cost it would have if he'd bought the original shares back via a broker - and all with the added bonus of removing some debt. Plus Murray was paid £40m by Joe Lewis for 25% of shares in 1999 which he bought back in 2004 for £8.7m (a £31.3m profit) and sold £20m of shares to Dave King in 2000. And that's before we even get to the numerous carve ups of catering contracts, etc. Murray took out far more than he put in. Also, his stance of defending himself at all times but allowing numerous attacks on the club and it's support to go unquestioned is coming back to haunt us tenfold.
  2. The current 3 year european 'ban' comes from having to have 3 years worth of audited accounts previous to UEFA licence application. A newco wouldn't have this (obviously) hence the 'ban' a CVA wouldn't affect the companies accounts so wouldn't affect the clubs right to play in Europe without a rule change which, as has been pointed out, would take time to be voted through.
  3. MK Dons gave up the claim to Wimbledon's history after discussions with the Football Supporters Association in England in a bid to end the boycotts that were happening from fans of every other league club at the time. As for Darlington, I live in the town, know quite a few of the lads who are behind the group trying to save the club and a few of the local reporters at the echo as well. No-one I've spoken to has heard anything about this. Not to say it's definitely not true but there's not even a whisper of it amongst them.
  4. It's a ban against registering new players (over 18) we can still renew the contracts of any player we hold the registration to. We'll hold Aluko's registration until he signs for a new club. Remember the sheep held his registration when he signed for us - despite leaving them 4 or 5 months before.
  5. The players being able to leave isn't down to any clauses the papers have claimed the players have asked for. It's down to basic TUPE laws that affect every UK worker. The Players employment would automatically transfer to the newco unless they opt out in which case they would be a free agent. Far too risky to attempt a newco because you can guarantee every agent will be after the free agent status. However the press claiming that the players have insisted on these 'clauses' is a bit misleading imo.
  6. He was superb in the sheep title game at Ibrox in May 91. He ended up at centre back as well that day. Was the captain as well with Gough injured.
  7. In the 1988 (the end of Souness' 2nd season) accounts on Rangerspedia it has a staff costs section at the end. 37 players on the books, 70 other staff. Only 17 people at the club were on wages above £30,000 a year - 11 of those were paid below £50k a year and only 1 was paid above £100,000 a year. Staff costs for all 107 employees was £2,121,207. http://www.rangerspedia.org/index.php/Accounts_-_1988 By the end of 1991 wages and salaries had risen to £4,205,000 for the year. But the number of players had increased to 44 and the number of other staff had also increased to 122, making 166 employed in total. There's no break down in how many people were paid above £30k but I doubt there would have been too many (if any) players on £250k for the year never mind well above it. http://www.rangerspedia.org/index.php/Accounts_-_1991
  8. This is where celtic haven't thought this through. No Rangers not only would affect the TV deal but would also leave them open to the other 11 clubs combining to force through rule changes - like a change to the current TV deal that apparently sees celtic (and Rangers) pick up 25% of TV revenue and non-old firm clubs receive around 4% each, forcing their money down further.
  9. Boro went into liquidation in 1986, their current debt from the EPL is still there.
  10. The most pleasing thing for me was his willingness to get beyond Jelavic. If you can look back at the match look how many times Jela goes up for a flick in the last 30 mins and Bendiksen is already ahead of him. In a 4-2-3-1 it's vital for the midfield to do that yet it never happened until Bendiksen came on.
  11. and Fir Park too, which we'd struggled at before last season. Also, worth noting that in every season we've won a league game at those 5 grounds and away to celtic (so all 6) we've also won the title. It's only happened in 6 previous seasons - Champions every time.
  12. Keevins will point to the new 'fast track' system that started this season (but ignore the fact that Naismith is the only person punished under that system so far). However, Kenny Miller's appeal for his red card against Dundee United a couple of years ago was heard within 2 days (thus serving his suspension in the Old Firm game at Parkhead) under the same system that was in place for Loovens incident.
  13. That's it exactly, mate. I was counting players who played in any senior competition (Rangers or elsewhere) hence Adam qualified through a single Challenge Cup appearance this season (and Hemmings and Cole qualify through Europe) yet hasn't made a league appearance yet. As for Gallacher, he was out on loan for the whole of last season, I think the idea was for him and Adam to rotate as number 3 keeper. Gallacher went on loan last season and Adam was sent out for this season but recalled recently when Gallacher got an injury. Bendiksen was injured for the whole of last season but was on the bench for a couple of games (without being used) towards the end of 09/10. Apologies on Forrest though. Blatantly there but I didn't see him when I read it!
  14. Hinkel's left, 4 more players you mentioned have been sent out on season long loans (juarez, o'dea, mcginn and thompson) and Keatings and Twardzik have yet to play a senior competitive game (for any team - the same reason I ommited Bendiksen) that's them down to 29 and the 31st would be Forrest and Slane - who you forgot. The under 21s, you got me! I inexplicably forgot to count Bartley and Hemmings though Perry and Rogne are both now 21 and not under. The 33rd player for Rangers would be Scot Gallacher, 36 games so far whilst out on loan, at the age of 21. For the other poster who asked my break down is as follows (all appearances are League only): RFC GK McGregor - 217 apps - 14 Int. Alexander - 368 apps - 3 Int. Gallacher - 31 apps - 0 Int. 15. Any player who has made a first team appearance (be it Rangers or on loan)in a recognised senior professional league or tournament counted towards the squad numbers so Grant Adam and Kane Hemmings would count but Bendiksen and McCabe (who have only played in friendlies) were not counted. For celtic the Twardzik (sp?) twins and McGeough weren't counted but that was it.
