Can’t help get the feeling, after this amazing week, that we have finally turned a corner.

Here is hoping. However, been here too many times in the past to take anything for granted. Shite teams with 100th of our wage bill still haunt me to this day. Particularly Motherwell (Christian Dailly in midfield season) and of course Killie (for 10IAR).

Just hoping this corner we might have turned, turns up a one way street similar to Alex McLeish's team.

  2. I think that Lundstrum is the type of player that needs dropped to truly kickstart his career with us and remind him of where he is. Not that long ago he was at the tip of all our tongues with regard to his performances. He is no doubt an asset, when he is foccussed, given his versatility and drive but it's mighty sad when all we regularly see is a half hearted version of the player we know he can be.

  3. We have lost out on so many fantastic talents recently that have played in our league (Hickey, Ferguson, Doigde etc.), surely we need to learn from this.  I'm thinking back to Neil McCann, Billy Dodds, Claudio Cannigia and Nacho Novo, to name a few, who delivered us titles.

Van Veen, Shankland and Nisbet are know doubt a talking point but so too are many others?

  4. More often than not, if we win all four old firm games, we win the league. If we even win three and lost one, there is still a good chance. To win these games we need a solid first team and also a very good selection from the bench. We need to think big this season and buy quality players that won't go in the huff if they find themselves on the bench and are raring to go when they get that opportunity to go on the pitch. We need to remember we are a massive club and to play for us you have to be fit, on form and know that someone can come in at any point in time and replace you.

Doesn’t matter who’s signing it was he’s the best midfielder at the club and should have started today that’s the reason he’s here Beale chose not to play him, it’s a fucking weird decision. Every single person on here could see it was the wrong starting line up no hindsight needed. Beale took wit an hour ? to figure that out fs

Is he really the best midfielder at our club though? Jack, lundstum and Kamara have had some outstanding games for us against some quality opposition in recent times. I'm pissed off as much as everyone else but Raskin being put in that midfield ain't the answer. Far too many passengers today.

It’s not even playing football. It’s safe unimaginative pish. Nobody wants to shift it quickly. Jack,Kamara and Lundstrum get it receive it and recycle it. Too many minutes are spent moving the ball sideways.
    We are never moving forward.

I agree with the 'safe' remark. Too often we care for having so many dms in our starting line up, albeit great at keeping possession, so we often forget the attacking brand of football we have historically been associated with. We badly need a gifted central midfielder (ala Pedro Mendes or Barry Ferguson esque) in there.

If we play a system than requires a strong aggressive forward playing solo up front then our backup strikers should be the same type of player.

Alfie type players ain't cheap. Nor is Alfie.

Requires a total reshuffle from our current tactics. Also not sure what we do with all our wingers plus Tav/Yilmaz if we have 2 up top.

If we were to use, for example a 442 (or variation diamond etc.) our wingers and l/r backs will go beyond and cover for each other. We should have total trust in ourselves that if we have two cms playing, no matter who(in SPL anyway), they will win that midfield battle. Total reshuffle yes, but we can't stick with the same formation as ever.

Don't want to make a thread bashing another player. But I've have noticed something regarding Colak.

He's not a lone striker in my opinion. Quite simply put. 4-3-3 or 5-2-3 with 2 wides is not going to work with him.

    Let's look at his stats:

Rijeka, 38 goals in 76 games.

"Rijeka usually play with two forwards and then get the width from their wing-backs. On paper, their attacking formation will often look something like a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-1-2 with an attacking midfielder, two strikers and full-backs who serve as wing-backs and even wingers when in possession."

    PAOK: 3 goals in 25.

    Formations: 4-3-2-1 (22 games), 3-4-2-1 (8 games)

    Malmo: 22 goals in 41.

    UCL formation: 3-5-2

We've signed someone who flops up top on his own but excels in a 4-4-2 formation (or tactics with 2 up top). Either Gio changes his system once Morelos and/or Roofe are back fit or this guys career at us is as good as over already.

Boyd in his prime was never a lone striker. He needed a Miller type to link up with. This is very similar in my opinion.

Either Gio had told Ross Wilson he'll change his system once our other strikers are back fit or this transfer is extremely poorly researched and makes no sense in regards to our formation for the last 4 seasons.

He looks lost in the two games so far.

Never a lone striker and think we could score an awful lot of goals if we pair him with Alfie.

  10. The system we play has relied on Alfie being the main focal point (battering ram, workhorse) striker for too long. Now we are seeing that filling that position is no easy task when he is injured. Colak has had about 6 touches of the ball and hasn't made the keeper make a save in his two competitive matches (disallowed goal noted). You could argue the midfield's creativity has been woeful so far but there is no way, if Alfie had been playing, this would be the case. If we can't find a player suitable for the position, we may have to change the system. Perhaps go back to two up top and have a partnership. What'd you think?

We’ve just spent 4 million on one.

Spending 4 million means hee haw. We still don't know whether Davies is cut out for us or not. My point in question is that Borna my go elsewhere for more than 4 million if you are to believe the media. Imagine the team getting Borna thinking they have won a watch only to see what we see each week. Still pissed off we let Balogun go.

  12. I think it would be a mistake to play Davies. Livi would just target him. Soutter was surely brought to us for games like this, where the only real chances they are likely to get are, more often than not, long high balls into the box-his bread and butter.

Same starting line up as Tottenham game except I'd change keepers and have Sakala right wing, if Matondo can't make it.
