  1. I totally agree with your analysis of how we used to play and how we now play using the 433 is different. Gio's tactical change hasn't been great and it might need a change in formation similar to what we seen in the last from managers like Walter and Eck who played with McCoist and Hately and Boyd and Novo, only to name a few.
  2. The main focus is two up front who are able to link with each other with midfielders who can also contribute with goals. Hately + McCoist, Novo +Boyd etc. Just now our options upfront, especially lone strikers is not great.
  3. We seem to continue using the same Formarion under Gio as we did with SG. Surely it isn't a coincidence that this is the case. I would like to think that Gio has his own ideas as to how he wants us to play rather than continue with a team that was seen to be successful. If we choose to continue playing with one striker, I find it hard to believe we will win the league with what we have got. Alfie might come back in and play that central role but even he could struggle given the wide player's contribution and form. (Waffle from here onwards in an attempt to come to terms with tonight's result) Could we benefit from a 442 formation? With Aribo, Kamara, Jack and Ramsay in midfield (if all fit) with Arfield, Kent, Diallo and Davis trying to get in whenever anyone of the starters don't perform. Upfront could have Alfie and any one of Kemar, Cedric or Sakala. Defence could be...
  4. Kent is playing with Barasic who is a shadow of his former self. That is putting it lightly regarding Borna as he has been brutal recently. And his left side is also affected by constant left centre back injury crisis we have had.
  5. Sorry mate just made a similar post with the same heading. Will try and my heading
  6. Ryan's class was stamped all over that second half and he was not considered fit to start. His injury timeliness relates similarly to Ramsey's. Going forward, if these two are fit at the same time we really need to fit them in the midfield even with Kamara and Aribo as obvious alternatives (middle). We might need to alter our system as this one is faltering at the moment.
  7. Taking into consideration his injuries that everyone is mentioning, when you look at his recent appearances for Wales I think he has only missed out on 2 or 3 matches in 12. Seems like he is more than capable of just rocking up and playing games when he wants to, whether 100%fit or not. I'm still holding out that we might see him play at some point tomorrow.
  8. Greegs (twice)and Bassey fucked up and all of a sudden our manager's tactics, decisions and balls are questioned. I'm pissed off just like everyone else that we dropped points but for fuck sake calm down. If anything, it highlights that Greegs is coming to that point in his career where we need to question if can continue with us. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if he plays a blinder on Wednesday and all is forgotten. That's how fickle this game is.
  9. I wish him well in his recovery. This might mean we could see more of Bacuna and Sakala. If we don't, it doesn't bode well for them. Even seeing Jack and Arfield back, I still believe we need a right winger and most importantly, a top class midfielder (Davis-esque). It might take a fair bit of money to get decent signings in these positions, but if we want Champions League money we have to be prepared to pay the money.
  10. Really! The year the Tim's got awarded the title without playing all the games, is the year I'm referring to. No, Timmy shit here!
  11. Tav was a massive part of our great defensive record last year as well as being pretty effective during Gio's decent introductory. I get that Patterson is a good player but good players being unable to play, as there are better players in their positions, isn't new. Tugay and Reyna had to go elsewhere as we seemed to think we had better. And we had!
  12. The year before last (the Covid league title), I got asked a question by my nephew that I struggled to answer. I answered it nonetheless with a good hesitant pause. The question my nephew asked was who was your favourite, current, Rangers player. My answer was Tav.As much as I rate Patterson, I still believe Tav is better.
  13. Listening to McCanns analysis regarding Kamara's anchor role. There is part of me saying to myself, why highlight this as it allows other teams to try oppose it. I know, deep down, he is doing his job but it still pisses me off when guys assossiated with us give opponents I site that they might not have thought of.
  14. He played well. He often got his 1-1 dribbling angles wrong and their RB was able to intercept. If he can sort this out, more than the other issues, many on here have pointed out, we could demand the same sort of fee Liverpool are asking for RK.
  15. If we play a short corner, by fuck we better score from it, as Katic (especially) and Golson are real goal threats and this could be the difference between winning games and dropping points.
  16. Maurice Edu was very much similar to Doc in that he covered some impressive distances. Some took to Edu and others constantly slated him. Needless to say Edu played his part in quite a successful team because our manager at the time knew how to use him effectively. I think Doc has a little more creative ability than Edu but going by some of the critism he gets on here, you might think he is no better than the players we have just released. I hope the boy does well as, like the article suggests, his attitude is spot on.
  17. More recent (although not a permanent signing), I suppose I thought Ryan Kent wouldn't cut it.
  18. I also remember thinking, what are we doing signing Alex Rae. Again, I was wrong!
  19. I suppose it is quite easy to be underwhelmed by some signings who are free, if you don't know that much about them. Novo, Wallace (Rod) etc.
  20. Although he was free, when Wallace signed I thought he was a good player.
