  1. What are your thoughts? Personally I was impressed by both, however; as much as I thought Toral had some great touches and short passes I believe he tried to force a few through balls that really weren't on (and ultimately gave away the ball). Hyndman on the other hand I thought was more athletic and suited to the pace of Scottish football. His through ball for our second ball was good but I would expect a junior footballer to play a pass like that so not getting too carried away. All in all impressed but a bit disheartening that they are not really our players.
  2. Neil McCann's wingplay analysis is second to none. He highlighted a few opportunities for us to cross the ball, however Kenny (or any midfielder) were nowhere to be seen, so had to revert to keep ball allowing Murderwell to get men behind the ball. The guy talks sense and is one of only a few TV pundits who is able to hold my attention. I feel with his 'I have a few players in mind should Barry go' he is asking for Mark or Davie to get him involved with us.
  3. When I seen the stats at about 80 mins we had had 10 shots to their 5. On target we had nil to their two (one a goal). I thought our defence was ok, we are just rank at creating clear cut chances. Hence why our defence always gets questioned. We have what we have. The only way to mask this is to score more (Mark's philosophy).
  4. Our team looks so much more solid with Hodson at right back. Tavernier is also fully capable of being fully successful for us as a midfielder given his athletism. I must say though that for us to truly click the left and right forwards need to be able find the net on more occasions than ours have. They need to be able to get on the end of garners flicks and our full backs through ball and be more prolific. It showed last week when Kenny scored and this week when Barry scored!
  5. (his play suggests) He is being asked to come short and link up with midfield, win and keep possession high up the park (on his own) and then lead the line as the lone striker. Give the guy a strike partner for crying out loud. Anyone who has played the game will understand this is an extremely hard task. not taking into account we often create next to f*** all goal scoring chances. When Joe got a goal scoring opportunity from the edge of the box in about the 75th minute I was actually taken aback. We might never see the best of him if we do not change tactics/formation.
  6. Yeah, I'm of similar thought and this (the players we have at our disposal) has led me to believe that we really need to change formation. We just don't have the players to play the formation our manager is trying to instil. Championship level it the players were fine, SPFL (or whatever it is now called) we are struggling! Our manager is extremely stubborn and I would be really surprised (and to be honest, would respect him more) if he was to try something new. Chelsea are a totally different team as a 3-5-2 unit. Our players may also be this way, but will we ever find out? Who knows!
  7. So do you believe we would have the majority of the possession (with the current squad) should we change formation or tactics? I'm well aware of the way our opposition often allow us to play.
  8. Is the formation we play the reason why we are, more often than not, able to totally dominate possession? I firmly believe that the foundations that have been set in our squad, we could still 'dominate the football' and at the same time create more chances if we were to revert to 4-4-2 ( 3-5-2 or any other formation). Without being too critical, creating chances are at a real minimum just now and something needs to change. On a side note I'm happy (yet frustrated at the same time) we have had two last minute winners on the trot!
  9. Absolutely amazing achievement. The guy is an absolute legend and by far the best Scottish sportsman that I have seen, and likely to ever see.
  10. just got a text saying "alright mate how you getting on?". Not sure of the source but I'm sure it is my best mate, going by the tone of the text. P.S I hope the bust up is...
  11. For those that have chosen Michael Mols as one of their top three Rangers players, I just do not get it. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion! Yes, he was a great player, before his injury, and still a good player after it but his prolific initial first half season bears resemblance to Marco Negri's start with us (before his injury) yet he is never mentioned in similar polls. I did think he was extremely talented (his turns were utterly outstanding) but feel the love for him is slightly harsh on our other servants who have, perhaps rather covertly, contributed more. Gazza, Laudrup and Cooper (in no particular order) (38)
  12. Foderingham Tavernier Hill Wilson Wallace Halliday Kranjcar Holt MOH Dodoo Windass In my opinion, McKay needs a reality check that he has competition for his spot. Barton and Rossiter's presence seems to have certainly sparked Andy Halliday into life. I also don't see why Niko should be dropped after his last outing. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action again, given that he perhaps is that little bit fitter, after the international break. I opted for dodoo for his pace and if MOH and Josh (if fit) are also included, no team would like to be up against the pace of those three.
  13. Was this not why Chris Burke struggled to play regularly for us? Then went down south and practically played every week. Pacey players, who are not quite seasonally robust, may require a different training schedule to others. Just hope we give him this as he seems to be a gem.
  14. I'm quite aware that the 'wide men' that I have stated are not typical 442 wide men but that is how they play and have to remember they are part of a 433 formation.
  15. They need to remember that they are also expected to score goals. When we play, whether it be Mckay or whoever is fit on the other side, they are not clinical enough. A true striking partnership should at least hit 45-50+ goals in this league. Give the main striker the benefit and bag more than the others but I would be expecting the wide men to score once every 2-3 games. The players we have in this formation will not give us this! Yes, they are good at keeping possession and driving forward but they are the ones who should be attacking the ball at the far post. Our full backs often deliver balls to where they ought to be but they are often caught up in keeping possession and not attacking. After Leicester's win in midweek, hearing Ranieri talk about how Brugge had all the possession and them playing their 'own style' and comfortable counter attacking makes me think that we need to change our tactics, as teams who hold possession are not feared as much as by gone years (perhaps not). For all our attacking line-ups recently, we have created very little chances. Whoever plays as our front three they need to buckle up. Yes, there may be arguments that the midfield has hindered the front three's progress but that does not wash with our expectations. If you play as a forward for Rangers you should be chipping in with goals. End of!
  16. Someone has belt fed this boy but I hope what he says is true!
  17. Barrie Mckay. His two identical passes to Wallace , where the second produced the second goal, were immense. His: by-line skill and lay off, which we missed; pass to Miller, for his miss; and his win of a corner near the end were just brilliant. This was as well as his hard graft in between.
  18. http://lineupbuilder.com/?sk=by1l5 I would have kranjcar in the centre with both Barton and and Rossiter either side and just behind him. I think it is important that he is given the opportunity to play the final ball to the forward three from this position.
  19. I would love to think he would not be on loan and would be a hit this year. However, going by quite a lot of fans opinions, this might not be the case and I have over estimated his talent. I still think there is something about the boy that we should not let him go, a similar feeling I had with Ross McCormack.
  20. I know it doesn't help when you only have three subs in this competition but we could have beat these part timers with many of our first choice regulars rested. I would imagine he would be feeling rather confused just now, with him knowing that he would be in the squad quite earlier on in the week.
  21. Giving the boys outstanding exploits for Raith last season I felt that this game was right for him to play. We know what other team members such as Barrie, Kenny, Michael and Harry can offer but this boy could be a cracker (perhaps like Ross McCormack). I don't know if he is in Warburton's immediate plans but I would have tested him tonight and allowed him to prove us wrong from here on in.
  22. Winning the title at Rugby park in 2009 when we were 3 up in the first 10 minutes- oh and Jelavic's free kick. Fantastic feeling knowing that tobacco muncher would be gutted!
  23. I would welcome Steven Davis and Sone Aluko back in a heart beat!
  24. Yes you may be right that he gets pass marks from many as he is a bear, however, it can also work the other way! People joining the bandwagon and blaming him for goals that he should not be blamed for need to reflect on previous stars. He as a CM should not be blamed for marking at corners (just as Gazza and De Boer weren't).
