  1. Because he shared a plausible transfer move from a good source (the player) and got pelters for it. I thought that was obvious.

  3. I think McCoist forced the board to act more than anything else. We're not moving in any upward direction.
  4. Bang on the money. Close the thread.
  5. I was thinking the exact same thing. I don't "blame" Walter but he did lay down the blueprint from which Ally has been working off ever since.
  6. Yep. As much as I dislike Levein, I think that job actually suits him quite well. The job he did at Dundee Utd was basically a DOF type job and they haven't looked back since. People forget how much of a mess they were in before he took over and changed the entire club. No idea who I would bring in to do it at Rangers myself.
  7. Yep. We are hilariously bad. We should have been organised, identified how wanted to play football and got the staff and personnel in to do it. Instead we did it the "Rangers way". There needs to be a root and branch change in the club but those in charge will only ever keep things ticking over. While we as a collective fanbase will never, ever get our act together, we're all just pissing into the wind on a messageboard. Depressing times
  8. I meant overall. The op mentioned a 74% win rate. I don't think that 9 point gap is insurmountable either. I expect Hearts to go through a poor run of form at some point and Rangers to continue picking up some turgid wins. I don't think you need to tell me to "wake up". As I said in my first post, I was pretty much wise to Ally's management skills from the off and haven't wanted him in charge at any point. I was just making the point that Walter- possibly our greatest ever manager- was never held to these standards and probably would have handled this rise up the leagues in a similar manner.
  9. First off, I think Ally is an incredibly poor manager. I didn't want him in charge when we were in the SPL, didn't want him in charge when we dropped down the leagues and definitely don't want him in charge now. We've f***ed a very good chance to make a go of being a progressive club (on the park, at least) and he has to take a large part of the responsibility for that. I do believe, however, that we are holding him to standards that other managers weren't held to. Attractive football and bringing youths through were never on Smith's list of priorities. Ally is basically doing what Walter did; outspending the opposition and grinding out results.
  10. I think McCoist is quite a shit manager but I still expect automatic promotion, with or without him.* *This may be down to conditioning.
  11. McCall has done an unbelievable job for the last three years considering his budget. McCoist has done an incredibly mediocre job considering his budget. I can't believe people are even debating this one. I'm not saying I want McCall in charge, just that the comparisons are ludicrous.
  12. We need to park the bus and park it well. They're not that good but under-estimating them would be extremely foolish, McLeod aside, there's not many in our team that would make it into their starting XI.
  13. I don't get the folk who are up for this. He's been a dick and an oaf throughout his Newcastle. Their transfer policy has been much improved but everything else has been a complete mess.
