Who was at the Brox the last time we stopped 10?
BobbyS replied to Thermopylae's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
Sorry to disagree but it is the last game of the 77/78 season. Rangers have just beaten Motherwell 2-0 to clinch the title (Peter McCloy in dark top which is red because it is Motherwell) Also in the John Greig Testimonial didn't Rangers wear a special top with writing about the badge? -

Last league game 1977/78 season. Just won 2-0 v Motherwell to win the title before completing the treble the following Saturday v Aberdeen -
Yes it's the1969 Scottish Cup semi-final v Aberdeen (which explains the blue socks) Hammered the sheep that day 6-1

According to Rangers The Complete Record by Bob Ferrier & Robert McElroy we played Valencia 3 times late May early June 1956 Two 1-1 draws with Simpson and Shearer scoring plus a 1-4 defeat with Hubbard getting the goal. Hope this helps.

Looks like Doug Baillie (who didn't play)
-
Sorry, it's the 1963 Final (photo from 1963 Scottish Football Book)
-
Back row I would go for George McLean, Billy Ritchie and Doug Baillie

i was born in 1952 so can't speak of the Iron Curtain team but your dad is spot on with the 1960s set up. Every team played with two wingers so more or less your full backs (2 & 3) stayed back to cover them, Centre half (5) covered the centre forward. Greig (4) was the ball winner and Baxter (6) was the creative one along with maybe McMillan (8) deeper lying inside right while Brand (10) was more attacking inside left supporting Millar (9) Henderson (7) and Wilson (11) would provide further ammunition from the wings. Imagine it maybe more like 4-2-4 with the opposition lined up in similar fashion. Hope this helps

I'm sure I have seen this before with all listed but the "old" Rangers I am going for Colin Stein, Doug Baillie, Jim Baxter, Ralph Brand, Wilson Wood, George McLean, Billy Ritchie, Johnny Hubbard, Davy Wilson and Jock Shaw. Is that Davie Kinnear in the tracksuit nearest John Greig?
-
Cheers mate. Thought it was one of the Van der Kerkof brothers. Also that Rangers strip wasn't in use til the 78/79 season
-
My guess would be PSV 78/79 season
-
Almost certainly. That was the free photo you got inside the newspaper on match day, that one appeared shortly after we played Forfar in the cup. Like many a bear back in the day that photo was up on my bedroom wall.

He would have signed Colin Stein in 1968?
-
Ne'erday game 1963. Rangers first goal in a 4-0 win from Harry Davis. You can catch this on youtube
-
Is that wee "Mr Happy" Jim McLean in the background?
-
Most kind. Thank you sir, I refuse nothing but blows lol
-
At a guess Ally Scott, League Cup?
-
Alex Forsyth at Hampden?
-
I think the player standing next to Jim Baxter is George Eastham. The only other I thought I recognised was the one who is pointing next to Joe Baker. I thought this was Davie Herd but he had left Highbury by that time. As it was a testimonial match a "guest" player maybe?

The white wall at the front of the terracing would suggest Ibrox to me rather than Parkhead.
