stewaj3 reacted to TheGovanIniesta in Signings you look back on and feel infuriated
More recently Pena, Herrera, Niko, Senderos
Mental money wasted for no reason, could have been so much stronger giving other top players their 15 grand a week

stewaj3 got a reaction from CoopsLaud in Underwhelming signings that made an impact and vice-versa
Got a few that haven't been mentioned. Surprising signings that did well. Vuckic, did us a turn when we became Newcastle reserves for 6 months. Neil Alexander, I thought he was a waste of 500k at 30 years of age, well worth that, part of our uefa cup team. Loyal. Folk have mentioned most of the others. Tugay I always thought, we don't need him, waste of money, ageing, (how spoilt were we at the time) didn't get a great look in at us but what a player. (Loved Reyna at us too)
Disappointments Colin hendry, don't think he was bad, just advocaat didn't give him a chance. Waste of money. Van vossen. Thought he'd be a great addition. Say no more. Also thought Cammy bell was a great signing at the time.
Names that others raved about, but I never really got excited by, Aaron niguez and Matt mckay.
We had a lot of hype for mladenovic and namouchi too.

Cannot agree with this more. I've also been excited by signings for about the last 4 years and look how that's turned out.
Ahh we've got Boyd and miller in the championship, that's quality that no other team has. We finished 3rd.
Wartburton year 1 went pretty well. Can't really complain too much even if the signs were there from Christmas onwards that he wasn't up to it.
The next summer we signed Barton, kranjcar, rossiter, dodoo etc and I thought that was amazing. Didn't think we'd get players like that. Between the 4 of them they have done nothing here.
I'm no even going to talk about pedros summer in charge because we've just spent a season watching it.

There's a bit of a buzz about it but this seasons only just finished a few days ago and it's still way too raw for me.
We still have way too much shite at the club but some of the names getting linked are top notch ... sure we won't all be in universal agreement with every target and signing but that's fine.
Arfield and McGregor are good business for starters as they are improvements on anything we've got for their positions.
No-one knows how Gerrard's reign will turn out but I'm excited and can't wait for pre-season to kick in and get started.

stewaj3 got a reaction from Drunk and disorderly. in Windass thanking Miller
It was the work rate on the pitch I was referring too. When some of these players couldn't be bothered... That's something miller could never be accused of... Always worked his socks off for us, you could tell he wanted to win every game.
All our players should have that attitude.
Whether you are a fan of his ability is a different matter.

Rossiter plays one game, came off injured and he's first pick for some. That's laughable.
He should be one of the first out the door

I'm not saying he had a good game.... But you can't blame the ref for how shite we are

Easily the best player at the club.
For some reason became really shit since John's injury but looked good in the centre on Tuesday

stewaj3 reacted to TMB in Return of the McKay?
Personally I couldn't stand McKay and was glad when he left. I think Murphy is a much better player. However, I know Barrie did have a lot of fans amongst our support.

I can't see McCoist getting another job in football. He left Rangers with his reputation in tatters but luckily for him he made plenty of cash so he's set up for life and doesn't need another job. When he eventually sells those penny shares he'll make a fortune.

stewaj3 reacted to TMB in Jonathan Johansen
What are you basing this on? How do you know he has any talent as a coach? We don't witness what goes on behind the scenes each day and based on current performances I'd question the ability of every coach at the club. In fact, I'd love it if they were all removed root and stem and we began again with Gerrard's backroom staff.
You say he knows the club, knows what we're about, but what does that actually bring to the table? The same could've been said about McCoist or Weir but they were completely incompetent as football coaches. We need guys who can do their jobs properly, not "Rangers Men".

stewaj3 reacted to 35 Yard Dangerman in Jonathan Johansen
He will probably go on to do a good steady job somewhere i reckon. Just a shame his start in coaching was under Pedro. All the best JJ but we need to crack on here.

Is the guy the Op refers to related to Jonatan Johansson, does my nut when posters can't even get our own player's names right.
Everything from Grieg for Greig, Morales for Morelos, add your own favorites.
Pedantic grumpy bastard loyal.

Some decent points in there.... But my god some awful ones too...
If we reached the champions league final and lost they'd be accused of being unambitious?
Aye because when we reached the uefa final on a shoe string everyone was moaning. We look back now and hate the fact that we weren't ambitious enough to win it.
We run at a defecit until we reach the champions league
Terrible business model, especially when they clearly don't have the means to back us to do that.
The takeover panel and it takes time to open a UK bank account.
That's a load of nonsense, if you are well connected and have funds here then it shouldn't take that long. Especially when you are chairman of Rangers. Dragging his heels and the club through the mud.
We don't want the foreign investment in the club right now
Yes having extra money to spend is an awful thing. Surely when you've just appointed a manager who is attracting global interest, this is absolutely when you want investment. Sounds like no one he knows wants to invest to me.
The murty situation
The board haven't hung him out to dry but the players have? Ok first off murty had to go, but if you ask me the board handled it badly. The players hung him out to dry, yes probably as they are spineless and not good enough however, they were also handed a (or another) manager from this board that wasn't up to the job. I'm guessing this was aimed at miller and Wallace, I've said it before, but this wouldn't have happened under Walter Smith. Give them a proper manager and they won't feel the need to do this. I'm biased as I like millers attitude, he's past it, but he's one of the few that I wouldn't call spineless. We need more characters like him, not less. The board put murty in his position and then took it away before the season's end. It wasn't done with dignity in my opinion.

You don't think being about 40 points behind hampered Warburton a wee bit?
-
stewaj3 reacted to graeme_4 in Who will Gerrard keep?
Assuming 4231, I think there’s only a handful of realistic starters for a league winning campaign. They could only be:
GK
Tav CB CB John
McCrorie CM
RM AM Murphy
CF
Squad / backup players:
Fod, Candeias, Doherty, Holt, Jack, Dorrans, Windass, Morelos
Assuming we bring in Arfield and McGregor, we still desperately need quality in CBx2, RM, AM, CF.
