***the Official Rangers V Pacific Shelf Thread***
Dibble replied to MacBoyd's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
Really think we need 3 in the centre of midfield with pace and energy wide and up front. The team I'd like to see (have left out Bell as he's injured)... Simonsen Foster, McGregor, Zaliukas, Wallace McCulloch, Black Shiels, Law, Templeton Miller Expect this from McDowall... Simonsen Foster, McGregor, McCulloch, Wallace Aird, Hutton (have a feeling he may recall Black for Hutton) Law, Smith Miller, Daly -
That makes more sense!!! I stand corrected. I got what I deserved for trying to correct someone else! Sorry OP WATP
-
If I can try and help the OP, whose doubtless enthusiasm is not matched by an effective grasp of grammar... I assume Marshall said something like... "If Rangers are not the same club then why did they sell out Ibrox in Division 3 when Celtic couldn't even do it for a game against Barcelona".
-
Smith was so clever that day. Our nine men included 3 very attacking players in Naismith, Miller and Novo and it paid off.

This. 100%. Whyte - Green - Easdale - Ashley/Lambias We simply must get rid of this board.

Have a feeling we'll have a go, leading to gaps at the back which will be brutally exposed... Rangers 2-4 Hearts If we don't have a go, then can see a drab 1-0 defeat To summarise, we really are shit However, I will be celebrating as loudly as anyone if, somehow, our lethargic team of journeymen somehow pull off a win
-
I totally agree. Pace and movement in attack is what we need. Having four players with movement and pace could unsettle Hearts.

Goram McPherson, Gough, Brown, Robertson Steven, McCall, Ferguson, Durrant McCoist, Hateley WHAT A TEAM!!!
-
I'm so fed up of our players (and management) referring to matches as "must win" The most recent is McDowall, Law and Templeton all quoted as saying this ahead of the Hearts game on Friday, much like they all did before the Hibs game where we were outclassed 4-0 This team has lacked the balls in pretty much every "must win" game they've had so far If the Hearts game is "must win" I wish they would say what they will do if they don't win it. For example, I wish the players had the balls to say "It's a must win game, so if we don't win it, I will give my week's wages back to the club" If they're not prepared to do that, then I wish they would shut their mouths and stop speaking out before games. You don't hear the Hearts players doing this. They're probably too busy working on their technique and game plan in training

Haha, you got me! Good investigating skills AlBear How wrong I was!!!

Amoruso 1997-2003 Andrews 2004-2006 The two of them never played together.

Amo and Marv didn't play together. Amo played with Hendry, Moore or Konterman (sometimes Scott Wilson) Big Marv played with Boumsong, Khizanishvili or Kyrgiakos if I remember rightly

As the OP, I should clarify... I was not suggesting that Bell is anything like Goram... Of course he isn't! However, I do think he is considerably better than Simonsen and I do feel the defence was more settled when Bell was in goals. With Bell back and a decent centre half partner for McGregor, I think we could have a solid basis to build on. Wallace is obviously a decent player and whilst Foster has been awful, he was always decent enough alongside Weir, Papac etc. so I feel he would be okay if we get the rest of the backline sorted and that starts with the keeper.

Just thinking about a couple of great centre half captains in my time supporting the team... Richard Gough David Weir Two absolute leaders and brilliant in their position. To think we now have Lee McCulloch (a past-it striker/left midfielder) as our captain and centre half is utterly depressing -
I remember watching the gers in the nineties. What a solid defence... Stevens, Gough, Brown, Robertson (We also had Dave McPherson) However, I always remember how much more settled the defence was with Goram behind them. When Ally Maxwell covered for Goram, the defence always looked more nervous. I can't help but think the same is happening just now with Simonsen in goals. We need Bell back pronto. Beyond that, we really do need a proper leader in place of Lee McCulloch at centre half

I remember when Walter returned in 2007 and he quickly signed two solid centre backs in Weir and Ehioghu. McCoist should've brought in a couple of solid centre backs in back in 2012... even a couple of solid scottish guys from the lower leagues... Instead we got Cribari and McCulloch -

Would have been so refreshing to see Peralta in at right back for Foster -

Delighted to see Black dropped. Pleased to see Templeton in. Utterly dismayed that Foster gets another chance. -

I think Kenny will line us up as follows... Simonsen McGregor, Mohsni, McCulloch, Wallace Templeton, Black, Law, Smith Daly, Miller If it were down to me, we'd go... Robinson McAusland, McGregor, Zaliukas, Wallace Gallagher, McCulloch, Hutton, Templeton Shiels Miller -
Can see MacLeod, Law, Wallace, McGregor, Bell, Shiels, Templeton and Miller all going as those are the guys I could envisage other clubs buying Can see the potential for an absolutely disgusting line up... Simonsen Foster, McCulloch, Mohsni, Smith Peralta, Hutton, Black, Aird Boyd, Daly

I like the general theme but you haven't gone far enough... Jim Stewart S.Easdale, J.Easdale, McGregor, Wallace Hutton, Broxi Shiels, MacLeod, Templeton Somers
