  1. I think Gatusso was one who if he stayed with us, would never have become half the player he went on to be. He needed to move and get those experiences to blossom. Ferguson on the other hand was able to fulfil his potential with us, which is quite a rare thing.
  2. Nope, performance matters too. Signs of improvement matter. If celtic drop 3 points and we drop 2, with turgid 1-0 victories like yesterday and a draw in the next month, the knives will be still out for him. If celtic dont drop any points, and neither do we, but our results show a massive uplift in performance, with Dessers, Lammers and Sima ripping up the league and Beales system becomes apparent, then this would be even more acceptable to the fans than the reduction in gap in the league table. Its not just about results and league table. Its about performances, its about how you deal with injuries, its about winning the fans over to a vision. If it was purely about results and league table, you are reducing the sacking decision down to a formula. Its not that simple.
  3. McCoist had a higher win rate than Warburton. Warburton was clearly an improvement on McCoist. Stats are fairly meaningless at times when all the other evidence is right there in front of your eyes. Differences in leagues, euro competitions, relative strength a weakness of opposition all negate the value of win % to being more or less uselss. Anyone from this point on that posts win % as Rangers manager as a sign of how good they are is being branded a simpleton.
  4. Im sure every fan dreams of it, im also fairly sure that you will be hard pressed to find another one who has typed it out and posted it any time in the last few days, given how improbable it is. To do it without even specifying that you think it is unrealistic, is what takes it to the even higher level of stupid.
  5. Not in so many words, but when you are banging on about 'highest win rates' and stating you are hoping for a league win this season under Beale, with absolutely no caveats about it being unlikely, then it paints the obvious picture that you are being unrealistically generous. You are providing the contrary view to those wanting him sacked and replaced with a magic 8 ball. You offer very few if any negative views on his tenure in your argument, only seeking to counter those who only hold negatives. Beale is doing shite, but its not the right time to sack him. Its probably on the cards, but we can hope for a miracle. Realistically he wont see out the season. Im pretty sure you agree with this, and know fine well the stats about highest win rates etc mean fuck all with context. You are arguing for arguing sake because you enjoy it. It is perfectly acceptable to be critical of Beale whilst stating its not the right time to sack him. Its not really the right time to be defending him and hitting out with misleading stats.
  6. I hope Beale turns it round and we win the league, but lets face it, he wont. I would take turning it round, upping the performances, and getting us close, with a sign of improvement. Right now, that looks beyond him. He is on borrowed time, but you dont sack your manager on the back of a scrappy win, on the back of other scrappy wins. The booing from the fans is not going to see him sacked after a win, what it will do is remove any leeway he has. If he gets us knocked out the cup, or we drop points in the near future, his cards will be marked and I think he will be gone. He shouldnt be sacked yet, but there is no point in posting stats to try and convince cunts he is being successful. He is holding on by his fingernails, and he is a bad result away from losing his job. Thats the reality of it.
  7. I wanted Beale and its been fucking rank, so not gonna demand any particular new manager. Im not completely against the idea of Muscat though, he has won things (shit things, but still things), and plays an attacking way, which I hear is like a copy of Fat Ange. Im not too proud to say that method of playing actually appeared to work in this country, so might be worth a shot. I dont think Beale is going to work out, and I would like the next manager to at least play entertaining football, as what we are witnessing now is fucking chronic.
  8. Did we sign that unit of a boy from the London Academy that looked a handful at right wing? If so, how has he been doing for the youths as he looked at least like he had the physicality to possibly step up?
  9. Most annoying asshole of the year award?
  10. Great song. Fans doing some brilliant work updating the song book to make it about us and our club. As much as we all grew up with different songs, and they invoke so many memories, when you look at them they are too focused on others and on troubles long over. Songs like this and 'Every Saturday We Follow' are definitely welcome additions.
  11. Did really well at times, but had 3 absolutely horrendous touches at various points in the game where he just cushioned the ball for one of their attackers being basically 1 on 1 with Davies. Davies was fucking colossal though.
  12. The findings in the enquiry ruled that they had no impact to the onfield success.
  13. Difference is that their fans started petitions, held mass rallies, plugged the line on every phone in. Our fan base is thankfully not as snivelling or obsessed, so we wont keep it in the news and whip up controversy. We would have to become something we hate to force something to happen.
  14. Celtic will probably offer them about £100k each to settle and not admit guilt. If they go to court and win, they might only get half that, but Celtic would be shown to be liable. The lawyers will prob get a cut so will advise them to look after their family and take the bigger cash.
  15. Each victim will have suffered differing levels of abuse, so presumably the ones that suffered the most will get the biggest share.
  16. Doubt we will ever know what the amount is. Regardless they will get off lightly.
  17. I think we all know this is not how the world works.
  18. I take it the lawyers will be entitled to a % of the settlement. They won't have some form of leverage to force the victims to settle for the highest cash value over a smaller settlement with liability attached?
  19. Don't think it will be anywhere close to £10m to be honest, not that I think the settlement figure will ever be disclosed.
  20. Unfortunately I think you are kidding yourself on. They will have their lawyers and lots of others encouraging them to take the settlement. Won't even blame them if they except a settlement which will see them compensated more than if Celtic have to admit responsibility. Whatever the victims choose is right for them, I don't think anyone has the right to tell them they are wrong. Celtic should be shamed out of existence though, but I have my doubts this whole thing will make any meaningful waves at all. Will be settled and then basically never mentioned ever again outside of us highlighting it with banners and the occasional reference in legal precedent. Their decades of abuse and horrors will end up costing them the equivalent of a poor signing in the transfer market.
  21. That will be that then. Hushed up settlement with no liability and for a undisclosed amount. Never to be talked if again or you are point scoring. Doubt they will lose a single sponsorship etc. Glad the victims will be getting compensated, but something is missing in the justice where the club at fault basically gets away with it unscathed.
  22. Was always going to come down to a settlement. They will settle without admitting liability and the settlement amount will probably never be revealed and buried in the accounts in a way which makes it impossible to work out. It's good for the victims if they can get compensation for what they went through, but the club should get dragged through the coals for it. I suspect it will hardly make a dent on them though.
  23. Depends how you define 'well-rated'. Mayo actually did well last season at Killie, but he is obviously a mile away from being good enough for us. Think we have also had some decent lower league loans for the likes of McPake etc, but never enough to kick on. You will be lucky if one scottish player who will be good enough to be a regular starter for us will come through all of the systems in the country once ever 3 years. Its not just an issue with our set up, its just that we dont produce many exceptional talents, and when we do, they now tend to head off to a better league ASAP.
