  1. Hinkel over Broadfoot Brown because we currently have injuries - full squad fit, he doesnt get a game If Smith would play 4-4-2, then no one else. If he is going to insist upon Miller up front on his own, then woudl prefer McDonald.
  2. I dont know, and dont actually care, how much debt septic have but I would be surprised if it was £2.6 million. It is likely that it is around the £10 mil mark. Man utd are hundreds of million in debt and I'm sure someone would buy them. The point isnt how much you are in debt, but how your level of debt matches up with your turnover. I dont think that our wage structure is any different to septics - they may in the last few years have purchased better within that structure but the structure itself is not necessary to criticise. Our wage structure is fine to compete with similar G15 clubs - it is not sufficient to compete with English clubs or CL finalist clubs - however, no one is claiming it is or that is where we should be. The banks are demanding it off of all businesses. The bank see us as a business - not a football club. We have sufficient assets that offset our debt and future income so whilst they may come, there are many companies who will have their door knocked before us. None of these points are things that we should be worried about nor are the septic that far away from us. We should be focusing on one thing and one thing only - putting a team that can win each game on the park. Frankie - is that sufficiently mature? To SUPERTEDDY - talk sense or piss off.

    Ipod Touch

Hey, Just a quick question for anyone with an ipod touch/phone out there. I've just bought an ipod touch and want to d/load applications to get real benefit from it. First is it worth jailbreaking it? Second, what do you think are the best applications out there? thanks in advance for any help
  4. There seems to be a lot of chat on here about having 7 strikers, why has WS not bought midfielders, etc, but things are not that black and white. A lot of the players we have or have bought, can play in multiple positions, depending on the system deployed. Its safe to assume that we are going to use one of two systems, 4-5-1 with two wingers/attacking midfielders, or 4-4-2 with two strikers or one forward behind a main striker. We can ignore defence, as that will stay the same in both systems - a back 4. 4-5-1 Holding Midfielder - Hemdani, Thomson, Ferguson, Dailly, Whittaker Centre Mid - Thomson, Ferguson, Dailly, Whittaker, Adam, McCulloch Centre Mid - Thomson, Ferguson, Dailly, Whittaker, Adam, McCulloch Right Wing - Novo, Beasley, Miller, Cousin, Burke, Naismith Left Wing - McCulloch, cousin, Lafferty Striker - Boyd, Darcheville, Velicka, Miller, Naismith 4-4-2 Centre Mid - Thomson, Ferguson, Dailly, Whittaker, Adam, McCulloch Centre Mid - Thomson, Ferguson, Dailly, Whittaker, Adam, McCulloch Left Mid - Adam, McCulloch, Beasley, Lafferty Right Mid - Beasley, Whittaker, Burke, Naismith Striker - Boyd, Darcheville, Velicka, Miller, Naismith, Second Forward - Cousin, Beasley, Miller, Lafferty, Ferguson The point i'm trying to make is we have the nucleaus of a good squad. We have bought players who are flexible to play in a variety of systems. We are not restricted to play one styel the way Chelsea were under Morinho. We have the players not only to adapt to each game coming up, very important when negotiating several campaigns against opposition of varying ability!!!, but to adapt within a game. If used correctly, i think this is a huge advantage we have over other teams. People keep saying we have bought strikers, etc - its just not that simple. We have set ourselfs up to be unpredictable in shape from game to game. I agree, I'm not happy with the quality of each position, but its a start and it allows us to build upon it. This season could hinge on just one signing, that one player that can turn important games. Just because WS and DM arent shouting out from the hilltops who that is, doesnt mean they arent working towards it.
  5. fulham arent stupid. they know our situation and how it will become more desperate the longer it goes on and will play the game accordingly.
  6. Agreed 100% - but when the trust is making public statements, some of which I dont believe represents my views, but more importantly, I dont think represents the views of the majority of fans, then it makes me question their credentials. Like i've said, i believe that some sort of trust is beneficial and useful - particularly for the day when Murray leaves and hands over the reins of the club to someone else. When that day comes, if a trust did exist that represented the majority of the fans views and allowed the oppurtunity to communicate cleary and directly with the owners of the club, then this can only be a good thing.
  7. The number came from Frankie. He said that there are 1000 paid members and a total of 3500-4000 have been involved with the trust at some point. I personally dont count people who used to support the trust but dont anymore as members. If you wish to, that is your perogative.
  8. There is a snowballing effect with membership. Currently you represnt 1000 fans. Whilst you may actually represent more, this is all you can currently lay claim to. If you represented 10,000, or 50,000 (potentially unrealistic numbers - i'm just using it as an example) - then even if you didnt fully represent my views, if you represented enough 'true rangers fans, then I woudl be willing to financially support such an organisation - I think other rangers fans may hold similar views. You need to satisfy two aims to get my money. 1. you actually represent the views of the vast majority of members - not all members as that is impossible, but the vast majority. 2. you have sufficient numbers that you can lay claim to represent the majority of fans who fund RFC.
  9. I believe that an organisation similar in nature to the RST has a place. However it needs to have more than a thousand paid up members. It must represent the fans who go on a saturday, the fans who subscribe to setanta and buy a strip, and the fans across the world that get up at crazy times to watch matches at their local club. How do you gain that support - I have no idea. As has been said, there is a great amount of empahty amongst fans - a lot of fans are happy to take pot shots (is that a phrase?) from the sides instead of getting involved. But people have got their own daily problems to face - mortgages, jobs, kids - so for those who are willing to give up a sizeable amount of their time to 'represent' the fans, I admire their dedication but in order for them to gain my respect, they dont need to represent my views, but they have to give me confidence that they represent their members views - not their own agenda.
  10. That's the silver lining. If we were up against The Celtic of a few years ago I'd be much more worried. I don't have a lot of confidence in our management team but I don't think theirs are any great shakes either. If this is the case, and I generally believe it to be true, why is it then that we have just reached a final of a European trophy and they've reached the last 16 of the CL, something they never did under previous 'better' teams? We are both doing better in Europe - is the standard across Europe dropping, or are we remembering previous teams with a fondness they dont deserve?
  11. Should it really matter how much we spend or how much quality we bring in? The two things dont neccesarily go hand in hand. A lot of people got worked up when we went for the 'inferior' one of the Hibs midfielders just because we got him for a lot less. The more I see of thomson (i may be biased - i think he's a great player) and what tim mates have told me about Brown, we easily got the better deal.
  12. 2 issues 1 - you read this in the rhebal - so lets question its accuracy for a start. 2 - if you tell teams you have got £25m to spend, prices suddenly start getting hiked up - look at Chelsea and how they have paid over the odds for players. Lets see how much money we spend come August and if we havent spent enough, or more to the point, if we havent brought in quality, then we get on their backs.
  13. Agree with the Gazza comment, but why should players like Cooper and Durrant not be playing for Rangers? These were players who were born with huge natural ability and a love for rangers. Is there a reason why we arent producing players like this and why we cant have a team with a few like this in it? Dont expect 11 coops, but one or two scottish-born rangers-supporting good players must be out there!
  14. Cheers - If porto are above us, surely then being knocked out pushes everyone else up one? Actually just read that out loud and realised how stupid it sounds. Whatever portuguese team replaces them will be above us. Scrap that idea!
  15. What effect does this have on us? Does this mean we are closer to being in the 2nd pot? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/7435898.stm - sorry dont know how to copy article straight in.
