Don't understand why Middleton doesn't get a good 5-6 game run in the team. release Kent to play in a free role behind the striker. The issue I have currently is the right side., zero competition for either Candeias or Tav and right now they are both stinking. The fact we 'have' to play Candeias  to get 'the best' out of our right back shows how this teams balance is all wrong. I don't have the answer but surely after 3/4s of a season the gaffer has more ideas than this basic 4-3-3 with wingers shit.

Gerrard's very first mistake and it's been an uphill struggle ever since, aside the fact he can't defend.

He seemed to me to be raging.   Scathing of the players ("across the board") with the exception of Wes who - he admits - won us a point when we could easily have lost all 3, and (partly) of Kamara.    The rest were openly and publicly charged with - yet again - failing to do enough as Rangers players.   I know he said he claims to have dished out his angry message responsibly and I assume he has.   Whether the players individually or collectively accept this and absorb it and react positively to it is another matter.
As he admits this is not the first time he's had to make that sort of statement to them this season.   That - to me - means they get the message but are either unable or unwilling to respond sufficiently positively to it by turning in consistently improved performances and results.   He can keep on with that messaging but it seems to me he's hit the proverbial brick wall which - if true - risks leading to a position where the manager and the dressing room part company.    Is it a question of player ability ie they get what they need to do, they respect the manager, they train during the week to give effect to a game plan...…...but when real contact with real opposition arrives they just don't have the ability to carry out game plan orders or have the nous to take the initiative and deliver the sort of on-field leadership that is needed?    If that's the case then its clearout time …… again.
But wait, they did have that ability and attitude in the OF game so they have shown they can apply themselves.    That means that too many are in a comfort zone where they only play when it suits them to play.   As sort of ManU syndrome under the former ManU manager perhaps.   Which is another way of wondering if SG is losing some of the dressing room.
SG has very high standards and expects the players to aspire to and reach those same standards …….in effect Rangers standards.   They are not doing so.    IMO he must use the rest of the season to sift the wheat from the chaff, identify those he can really rely on and identify better players to bring in for next season - players who will respond to the managerial helm and not players who just refuse to lift their game and follow game plan orders.

From my living memory, the evidence of bias goes back to when Souness arrived and his many spats with authority. I remember one incident when he was on a touchline ban, the media showed pictures of him in the tunnel. The games against the scum were a war zone and we were always portrayed the guilty party as the scum lashed out in their failure to stop the shreddings.
We never won the propaganda war then, in spite of the evidence of bias aganst us, but we did march onto to 9IAR despite this.
The scum have remaned to to influence proceedings ever since, with Liewell ably levering his pal Regan to the top job at the SFA.
The whole proceedings go into overdrive as we crash with google eyes. The campaign against us 7 plus years ago remains to be relentless and having  it's lasting effect, all the while Liewell and his placemen occupy the seats of influence at the SPFL and the SFA.
I obsessively posted three years ago that we/the club needed a coherent strategy to counter the haters propaganda machine so effective it had become in tipping the scales against us. Demonised at every turn we were/are impotent in reversing it. We are simply weak as piss in the PR stakes.
As we for the first time mount a serious challenge, the haters openly ramp it up another notch, but worse than that, we remain to have the Liewell placemen/woman making sure we are disadvantaged. Worse agan, we now have rats in the shape of McInnes and Clarke, plus our ex players adding to the agenda. We are up against very public and unseen powerful forces.
Yes I want the club and the support to do more, but as a club we need to pick our battles and be very considered in our response, simply because the is NOT one anywhere in influence who has our back and it could it all could get worse for us.
I doubt both Gerrard and this board are happy at the obvious campaign against us and I am confident that behind the scenes our position and response to these matters are being formulated, but whatever it is, it needs to be effective in as much not to shoot ourselves in the foot. It should have been established when this board came to power and since, but no doubt they had other pressing matters on their mind. We have reahed a tipping point in the hatred and institutional bias and it needs turned around PDQ.
Meanwhile back on the park, much like Souness, we need to do the business in what is a stacked deck and that is what will turn this around along with a coherent strategy to counteract the propaganda and institutional bias.
There are those who need outed and confronted and there are those who should now be persona non grata at our club, in those former employees. There should be no more silence, no mr nice guy, but we do it with dignity.

Just about every thread now is taken off topic by  a bunch of immature posters who engage in petty arguments pretending they are witty, trading personal insults like wee daft boys and disrupting the thread content continuity, even losing any semblance to a football forum at all.
For me  these posters surely can't be representative of our magnificent support , as they are basically just shitting in their own back yard for their own amusement, and sadly bringing the Bear's Den into ridicule.
Just saying admin, we see it happening, you see it happening, advice from admin above says it should not be happening, yet it's the same garbage happening every day and night. There is of course a suitable off topic forum where this shite could be posted (although not in there either if I was to choose), and I suspect many other posters would prefer it to dissappear altogether from the Bear's Den too.
Quite simply it is embarrassing now, I want to read about my football team in the Bear's Den, not read juvenile tit for tat non football related consistent meaningless twaddle

The “always gives 100%, 7/10 every week” type of players don’t belong in the final third. Fair enough at full back or in midfield, but at he end of the day you win games in the final third. We need a lot better.

Steven Gerrard challenges Borna Barisic and Eros Grezda to make their mark at Rangers in the second half of the season
    By Christopher Jack  @Chris_Jack89
STEVEN GERRARD has challenged summer signings Borna Barisic and Eros Grezda to prove their quality for Rangers in the second half of the season.
The pair made the move to Ibrox from Croatian outfit Osijek in the summer and put pen-to-paper on four-year deals with the Light Blues.
Left-back Barisic has impressed when given his chance by boss Gerrard but injuries have prevented him putting together a sustained run of performances this term. He missed the festive fixtures with Hibernian and celtic but joined up with the Gers at their winter training base in Tenerife last week.
Grezda, meanwhile, has struggled to prove himself and has been in and out of the team so far as youngster Glenn Middleton has been the back-up option to wingers Daniel Candeias and Ryan Kent. The Albanian is waiting to discover the extent of a knock picked up in training on Thursday and will continue to be assessed by Rangers’ medical team.
And boss Gerrard is keen to see the duo make an impression at Ibrox in the coming weeks and months. He said: “Borna has had a lot of injuries and Grezda came injured. This trip is almost like a reset button for both of them and need to use the next two weeks as a mini pre-season to get their bodies ready to cope with the physical demands of Scotland and the regular game schedule.
“There’s no doubt both have got quality. Borna has shown that regularly when he’s played but we haven’t had him fit enough so he needs to get more robust.
“Grezda has got it all to prove. He needs to push himself to prove to everyone he’s capable of being a Rangers player. “First and foremost he needs to win a shirt because at the moment the players who played against celtic have got the shirts and rightly so.
“He has to show to us in the coming weeks that he wants to win a shirt back and when he gets his opportunity take it and find consistency.”

    👏👏👏👏👏 Well said gaffer.

Almost two weeks after the final whistle went on the last Old Firm game of 2018, it is incredible to think that we're still talking about the referee.
The manufactured outrage over John Beaton's apparent leniency towards Alfredo Morelos is beyond a joke and you need to question the motives behind some of it.
There's no anti-celtic bias; no 'Operation Stop the Ten' and no grand conspiracy against the team that have won the last seven titles on the spin.

Jermain Defoe reveals Rangers move was inspired by chat with Graeme Souness
Jermain Defoe has revealed how he grew up idolising Ally McCoist and dreamed of sampling Scottish football after an Auld Enemy clash for England schoolboys.

But a conversation with Rangers legend Graeme Souness this season helped him to make the move north of the border after hearing the former Ibrox boss describe the Old Firm as the world’s best derby.

On-loan Bournemouth frontman Defoe admitted he always does his homework on the strikers he will be walking in the footsteps of at any new club.

At the Light Blues, however, he knew all about record scorer McCoist and now Defoe has been handed the same No.9 shirt worn by the legendary forward.

He grew up watching the likes of Ally McCoist
And Defoe’s affection for Scottish football comes from his early days as a kids playing for the Three Lions long before he terrorised defences for England at senior level.

The 36-year-old also recalled a substitute appearance for West Ham in a 2-1 friendly defeat against celtic in a pre-season friendly in 2000 in a match billed as Paolo Di Canio’s Paradise return.

Defoe’s next trip to Parkhead in March will be a little bit different but he can’t wait to sample the white-hot derby atmosphere after speaking to Souness before the first clash of the bitter rivals this season.

Speaking at the club’s training camp in Tenerife, he said: “I have done a few bits for Sky Sports and was on there the day of the first Old Firm game of the season.

“I was talking about the North London derby and Sunderland v Newcastle but Graeme just said ‘Trust me, Rangers v celtic is the best derby in the world. Without a doubt. You will never experience anything like it.’ I was listening to him like ‘Wow!”

Defoe was sold on the derby atmosphere
Defoe’s face lit up as he talked about that prospect at the team’s five-star base in the Canary Island and his excitement at the move.

And he said: “When I was really young, I remember saying I’d like to at some stage play in Scotland, play in those crazy derbies, the best derbies in the world according to Graeme Souness.

“I played in Scotland for England Under-15s. My mum still talks about it now. That was my first experience.

“I was really young then. I played against celtic for West Ham. It was a game where Paolo Di Canio returned.

“I know about the history of the club. When I sign for any club I always think about the strikers that were there before me.

“Ally McCoist is a legend and there’s Kenny Miller, who I bumped into in Dubai in the summer. But I remember watching Ally McCoist when I was a young kid. You can learn off every goalscorer.

“I know all the goalscorers. As a kid, I never really supported a team. I just used to watch the forwards, all the different strikers.”

Defoe lifted the lid on his hugely frustrating time at the Cherries where he failed to get much first team action this season under Eddie Howe.

That has fuelled his desire to be a Gers success and the diminutive forward says he’s ready for Scottish football’s boot boys.

Defoe - in line for a debut at Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup next week - said: “I know I’m probably going to get kicked about.

“The lads have told me that already but it’s challenge. I don’t think you can ever look at any league and think it’s going to be easy.

“I remember when I went to the MLS with Toronto, a lot of people said I would smash it and score loads of goals.

“But if you don’t go somewhere with the right mentality, and don’t do what you have always done, that’s when it becomes hard.

“But if you do what you have always done, regardless of who you are playing against, then hopefully you will do well.

“My hunger is massive after the past 18 months. I’m just want to play. To be fair, credit to the manager, Eddie Howe, because he knew it was hurting me.

“There were times when I felt I should have played and it wasn’t happening for whatever reason. I had a conversation with him and said I just wanted to play football. That’s what I do.

“Of course, it’s nice to be a sort of mentor to younger players, but at the same time your own happiness is important.

“I’m not a coach. At some point I will do my badges but I’m not there yet. I want to play football and it wasn’t happening.

“It’s been tough for me to be honest. For the last year and a half, it’s been difficult not playing as many games as I would like or was used to.

“Mentally, it was tough. I have had stages in my career where you are in and out of the team, but when I was younger it was different because I wasn’t a senior player.

“Now, there are times where you are a little bit down and you haven’t got any senior players to pick you up. You can go to the captain, but you are the senior player.

“You sort of have to look after the dressing room and make sure everyone else is okay. You have to sacrifice your own happiness a little bit.

“It’s never easy but you have to do it because it’s the right thing to to. You are helping the team and you are helping the club.

“It’s been hurting me a lot. that’s why having this opportunity now to hopefully play football and do well is something I’m excited about.

“There comes a point when you have to decide what you want to do. I love playing football and I love scoring goals. When I got the phone call, it wasn’t a hard decision.”

Yes it looks like he was looking for the penalty and that was a mistake, dont know what he was thinking really. But don’t understand the hatred for the boy on here. He’s young and was thrust into the game. Just watched the highlights back and he didn’t have a bad game. The service he received was shocking and that’s where the real failure for Sunday lies.

I understand BBC policy is to ‘serve the public interest’ but wonder how they can be by withdrawing from proper engagement with our club, the biggest in the land. Despite the bullshit response I also doubt they are working very hard at all to resolve the situation. Therefore they seem to be doing anything but serving the public interest - surely that is a clear breach of policy ?
