  1. Other players also miss chances, but none get the criticism Morelos does. The keeper can pull of great saves but they always get classed as Morelos misses.
  2. Created that goal himself did he? I think you're going back on what you said previously...
  3. A player who is playing better because the team are playing to his strengths...
  4. Look at that - another goal after someone provided him an opportunity...
  5. Maybe he would have missed, but he doesn't get those opportunities if people don't cross the ball in for him... I won't dispute that he looked determined last night, but that's because he was doing what he enjoyed - getting in and about people instead of being played as a focal point. Just imagine if there had been another striker he could have laid off or played through balls to? You know that there's a difference between "petulance" and "frustration" right? If he was actually being petulant the manager should sub him off. I don't think he was given much service last night, no. Were there many of these "misses" that you like to berate him for? What were his stats - how many attempts on goal did he get? In saying that "we afford a centre forward who relies solely on service", can I ask how you expect him to score goals otherwise? I don't think he's a magician, he can't create opportunities out of nothing. Think about how tight defences are in the SPL, he won't run rings around everyone on his own - he'll either need to given opportunities to finish, or be used as the provider for someone else to finish. Forgive me for trying to see the best in our players, play to their strengths and make the most out of what we have - instead of being all negative & downbeat like you. Based on your description, some could even say you were being petulant... I'd say Morelos did a lot more work for the team, than the team did for him. He worked his ass off and I'm sure he was exhausted - that's his style of play. When he puts in performances like that and things don't work out for him I would say that he is quite justified in getting a bit annoyed and frustrated.
  6. His goal had nothing to do with all the hold up work he was doing, it came from someone crossing the ball in for him and he headed it in the goal. So if that doesn't suggest that he needs service then I don't know what will. I wouldnt say his play style was any different tonight from what it usually is, the guy worked his ass off and bullied his way about upfront.
  7. He put in a lot of work tonight, and I hope his performance shows what I was getting at - you either need to give him opportunities or play him alongside someone. Thanks for working on your headers Alfredo. I hope I didn't come across as harsh, I was just trying to stick up for & motivate you ? Please keep it up. Hopefully you get an apology off the other guy as well.
  8. 1. Please list everything that has been wrong with Morelos, in detail please, since you seem to know so much about him. Your judgements about his mentality are on the same level as me with Gerard's coaching ability. Say Morelos does get dropped, and this does happen to "reinvigorate and revitalise him", if we're not playing to his strengths or creating opportunities for him to finish it's going to be pointless isn't it? 2. I've seen Morelos be frustrated when he misses opportunities, or if someone doesn't set him up, but I've never seen him refuse to play or lose interest because of it - so I wouldn't call him petulant. As a striker his job is to score goals, and for the first half of last season he was pretty good at it, so I can understand his desire to score the goals himself - instead of giving them to other people. One of the major criticisms launched at Kris Boyd was that even though he was scoring 20-30 a season, he wasn't putting the work in on the other areas of the park for his teammates - so people called him lazy. I think we need to come to the realisation that if these strikers could do it all, they would be at Real Madrid and not be playing in Scotland. 3. I don't think you can complain that he doesn't put the effort in during games - he's running about, holding the ball up and getting in people's faces. If he's doing that as a lone striker, who is he supposed to set up? What are the rest of the team doing? He may run offside and he may miss chances, so how about we change our style of play so that his isn't running offside as much and create better chances for him to finish? It's pretty easy... 4&5. You're just being petty now.
  9. 1. If he wants to make the most out of him, I would say yes. We supposedly turned down £8m for him, so I'd say that if are intent on keeping him then he should be the focus. Gerrard is a young inexperienced manager, I can guarantee you that he has absolutely no experience in helping players change their styles or positions. So do we play to Morelos' strengths, or do we discard him and waste more money on another striker? 2. I don't speak Colombian, so I don't know Morelos' opinions/beliefs. I don't think he's petulant or selfish. From what I have seen of him playing, I would say that he's quite a determined wee fellow who rightfully gets annoyed when he's not performing well or scoring goals. I think I've been pretty straight forward in saying that if we are going to play Morelos in the striker position, then the whole team should be using him as a focal point and providing him the opportunities to score goals. 3. I'm sure he knows the best positions and runs to make for HIS style of play, but if managers and team mates don't do this, or attempt to change him, they can't be annoyed when things don't work out. We seen this when people were complaining about Boyd's lack of work rate compared to Kenny Miller - two different types of players. Just let players do what they do best. 4. /S 5. I'm sure the same could be said for you making assumptions and generalisations about me. But yes, I'll enjoy being content, and you can continue being you.
  10. No, I'm saying that we should play to his strengths. You've already commented on how you don't think he's the best at heading balls, so how about we give him more through balls that he can chase down instead of crosses??? Things that he is suited to... I'm pretty sure it's a team game, and if Morelos is playing as a striker then I'd argue it's his job to score goals which the team help to create, not for him to do everything while the others defend. Maybe we should just do away with the defence and expect McGregor to still save everything? I'm a bit confused here, it seems like you're saying that he's a striker being forced to play a CF role which he may not be suited to? Isn't this the point I''ve been trying to make? You're free to criticise and vent your frustration in whichever manner you deem appropriate, just like I am. I just don't feel that yours is very constructive, or good for your well being because they're not going to hear it. You have your approach and outlook on life, and I have mine. I believe mine is better because I'm pretty sure that I'm enjoying life a lot more than your are...
  11. He seemed to be suited to Pedro's style of play. How many goals did he score after he left?? I think that shows that he is capable, it's just that if we want it to work then it has to be his way. Like I said before, if we provide him with opportunities he will score. We can't expect him to chase down balls and create everything for himself. By all means change his position, make him the provider for others, but to expect him to play two positions is just lazy on everyone else's part. As far as I'm concerned it's a new season and it's a fresh slate. I don't think he missed any gilt-edged chances in the Shkupi games, but I also don't think he was provided with many - this does not mean he has bad form. The whole team played poorly, and it's understandable because it was the first game back after Summer with a few new players. Support the players & tthe team, give them encouragement and positive reinforcement. Don't be a glory hunter.
  12. Thank you for admitting it - He's not suited to our current style of play. Why is he the one who is at fault? We're trying to push square pegs into round holes, and blaming the pegs.
  13. The hard working Kenny Miller who played under Smith, who chased everything down and got involved in everything - yes. His performances dropped as he got older because he was trying to carry a poor team and do all their work for them. I'm not sticking up for him, because he did spit the dummy out when Pedro tried to change him and if he'd played along things may have went better. So you're agreeing with me about Morelos and service? I just want to double check on that... If we provide him with chances, instead of making him chase down balls and do all the work, he will score goals
  14. He's not Kenny Miller, he can't always do it all on his own. He needs service - feed the buffalo and he will score. Caixinha played to his strengths and got a lot of goals out of him - no one else has managed that.
