  1. With the deadline looming, we now have what resembles a squad capable of competing for a domestic treble and with minimal signings required next summer, we should be in a stronger position to play in Europe so early in the season. Once we rid ourselves of some of those that are there just to pick up the money, and re-invest in the 1 or 2 positions that we need re-inforced, we will have a really strong squad for the remainder of this season and the basis of one of our strongest squads in years. The weakest area of our team is the defence. Other than Bougherra, there's no real pace or depth, particularly in the full back positions. Obviously a few of our strikers are being linked with moves away, and i'd fully expect 2 or 3 of them to move on by the close of the window tonight. Even is this was to happen, we'd still have 4 strikers to choose from. I think we would only need 2 or 3 quality signings next summer, depending on who / if we bring anyone in today. McGregor Alexander Bougherra Whittaker Papac Weir (needs replaced next season) Broadfoot (would replace at the end of the season) * 2 or 3 new defenders required Thommo Davis Mendes Fergie Edu Beasley Fleck Effrem Aaron McCulloch (would sell now if someone would take him) Adam (would sell now if someone would take him) Velicka Miller Lafferty Gow (may be sold today) Boyd (may be sold today) JCD (may be sold today) Cousin (may be sold today) Novo
  2. Absolutely delighted with the result yesterday, infact, so much so, that i couldn't wait to get into my tim infested work this morning!!! Been reading various postings and press articles along with listening to phone-ins etc, and to be fair, i think we need to take a step back (while celebrating what can only be described as a humping) and look at things from the bigger picture. Please do not take this as negativity, it's merely a reminder that it was one game. We're all talking about 'whos Barry' and 'sell Boyd', 'we're better off without Barry' and 'Magic is a saviour', etc etc. Let's be honest, we played some outstanding football yesterday, mostly played through our midfield who were exceptional and right now, i'd agree, stick to a winning team. However, it was one game, a game in which we exceeded all of our expectations, a game which puts down the marker for the season......but can we sustain it? Ferguson will complete this midfield. He's been trying to do everything on his own for the past couple of seasons which is the main reason for his injuries, and he now has the perfect partner to allow him to play in his favoured holding role in Pedro Mendes. Mendes and Fergie will dominate every match they play, with the guile of Thommo slightly to the left and the tenacity of Davis slightly to the right. Mendes will create space for Fergie and vice versa....we now have 2 central midfielders that can dictate matches and compliment the defence (Fergie) and the attack (Mendes). Add to this the engines of both Thommo and Davis and we have a midfield similar to the one which Advocaat played with Albertz - Gio - Fergie - Reyna. On top of this, we have Boyd who is the most natural goalscorer we've had since Coisty and Negri. Just because Cousin had a blinder yesterday, doesn't mean that the guys head is back in it and that he wants to play for us. Boyd makes the difference in the tight games (a'la both cup finals last season) which should never be forgotten. I hope that he stays and gets his chance, although, i think his time is up. Bougherra has been here for 4 games and looks like a signing in the mould of Cuellar. However, like i said, it's only been 4 games. If he can sustain these standards until the end of the season, we can then quote him as a great signing. There will be two or three players leaving today, but let's hope it's the ones that don't want to be at the club and those not good enough rather than those that can be relied upon when we really need them.
  3. i'd run to the beggars, pull off the jersey and unleash the Big Jock Knew t-shirt with my hands cupped behind my ears listening to the silence coming from them and laughing in their faces!!!!
  4. We've got a first team squad that could field 2 teams!! Problem is, there's too much dead wood in there. We still need an out and out CB and a RB in the mould of Hutton....if we signed those 2, i'd be happy with the incoming faces during the trasnfer window, although would have preferred it if the timing had been better!! Personally, i'd make a move for Sonko from Reading as our CB....would be available for similar money that we paid for Bougherra and would be a pretty formidable ppartnership at the heart of our defence. As for a RB, i'd love to see Whittaker do it, but he's not fulfilling his potential at the moment...although he's still young. Unfortunatley, we've been left with guys like Cousin, JCD, Broadfoot, Dailly, Gow, Weir, Hemdani (who i'd keep), Adam, McCulloch and Burke. That's 10 players, 10 salaries and potentially £5m worth of 'talent' that shouldn't get anywhere near a Rangers jersey this season. With only 3 days to go, are we likely to (a) ship any of these guys out or (b) make any further additions to the squad??
  5. 5-1 to Rangers at Ibrox and Butch Wilkins fucks one helluva volley in from 25 yards out!!!!
  6. If Miller scored the winner (or even better, a hat-trick) against the mankies on Sunday and got it right up them with a fitting celebration????
  7. 4-3-3 Cech Hutton Abidal Terry King Carlos Pirlo Kaka Essien Robinho Torres Messi Could probably get away without playing a keeper to be honest!!!! lol
  8. Not long joined RM, but it certainly helps work pass by quicker!!!!!! Some great banter and despite some heated debates.....one common factor prevails....the love for Glasgow Rangers!!! Off to sunny Cyprus on Sunday, so i hope to see at least 4 new faces and 9 points to the good by the time i return on the 24th!!!!! WE ARE THE PEOPLE :unionflag:

  10. ....does it say that Cuellar won't be leaving?? All it says is that we've not had any offers for him, nor do we want an offer for him!!!! FFS, if we get offered £10m+ for the King, he'll be sold a'la Hutton !!!!! Hope to fuck i'm wrong!!!!!
  11. But he has the quality that's hard to come by.....scoring goals!!!! Other than Krissy Boyd, he's our only other natural goalscorer!!!!
  12. Just to start with, this ain't a dissing of Stevie Naismith, nor is it a Big up Stevie Lennon. Why did we spend £2m on Naismith, when if given a year of first team experience (on loan) Lennon would add the same value to our team?? Lennon should've been pushing for a place in the first team this season!! The same could be said for the likes of Whittaker, Thomson too....that's £6m spent on 3 'domestic' players, when we could surely have farmed our players out for a year or two. This kind of thing has happened for years...Ian Murray, Steven Wright etc etc!!!! Perfect example.....Alan McShagger on loan to Dunfermline and came back as our 1st choice keeper and valued at anywhere between £5m - £8m !!!!!
  13. he's strained his back carrying the rest of the team !!!!
  14. Expect a defensive pairing of Magic and Broadfoot!!!!
