  2. Well I'm a Greenock boy and will be in attendance don't think the tickets are going to be much more info below. FOOTBALL fans have a not-to-be-missed chance to meet former Scotland star and Rangers legend Richard Gough when he arrives in Greenock for a special one-off event. Gough will be at Greenock Town Hall on Wednesday 9 November. Football fans can take part in an exclusive question-and-answer session with the former Light Blues skipper who led the club to nine successive league titles. The night, which is being organised by the Tele, will allow fans to quiz the defender - who scored a famous winning goal for Scotland against England at Hampden - on his remarkable career. Football pundit Iain King will interview Gough, who now resides in California, about his career before fans get the chance to ask questions of their own. King said: "From the corner shop title triumph with Dundee United in 1983 to the glamorous move to Spurs and being part of the Souness Revolution at Rangers. "Through captaining Scotland at Euro '92 to the bitter bust-up with Andy Roxburgh that ended his international career. "From nine-in-a-row to an American adventure and all the great managers and stars he's played with and against. "I think there are few players with a story like Richard Gough's to tell and in the 20 years I have known him, few have been as candid and honest. That's why I am looking forward to this event so much." The 49-year-old is best remembered as Rangers' iconic nine-in-a-row captain, but he launched his trophy-laden career at Dundee United in the 1980s. He helped the Tannadice side secure the Scottish Premier Division title under Jim McLean in season 1982-83. After impressing at club level, an international call-up was on the cards, and Gough was given his first of 61 Scotland caps in 1983 against Switzerland. He moved to Tottenham after Spurs boss David Pleat pounced in a £750,000 transfer in 1987. Gough then became Scotland's first £1million footballer a year later when he put pen to paper at Ibrox. He lifted nine SPL titles along with three Scottish Cup winners' medals and also led Rangers to seven League Cup victories. Stints at Everton and Nottingham Forest followed and Gough was inducted into the Scottish Football Hall of Fame in 2006. Tickets for the event will be available to buy FROM THIS FRIDAY - phone 726511 or call in to the Tele reception. 3. I wouldnt go as far as to say that because there will always be out goings and overheads which will be unnoticed so i think the 2.5m debt is a bit off the mark but i can understand it is a lot rosier than last year and smith & co have a bit of leeway. And also the 4m brought in from wilson & thomson will help.
  4. i only really look at miller, beattie and velicika as out and out strikers. Lafferty and naismith seemed to have played much of their football out wide for us. Fleck is better deployed off a striker or as an attacking midfielder and little is definetly looked upon as an utility man for the team. And going with watching smith in the past he has been used as a right midfielder in his recent career and barazite was used as a left winger during his loan spell at derby and before anyone mentions yes i do know that smith, barazite and beattie havent signed yet.
  5. would also say the continued talk at that time of takeovers by different people wasnt to help because there was a major uncertainty about basically everything at the club so nobody knew what would be happening this summer. E.g. transfer budget, contract negotations between players and backroom stuff and the overall stability of the club as a whole so nothing could be sorted.
  6. seen this on their website this evening dont think it would be too bad an option http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/editor-s-picks/tie-tonge-down-and-watch-him-join-the-jet-set-rangers-1.1042529

  10. well their all raving about him down there dont think he is quite up to our standard just yet but i see where walter is coming from by the way he is looking for young scottish players due to our minimal budget
  11. Young boy for morton who we are supposedly monitoring heard this off a few boys in work who are ton fans and kenny mcdowell was at their game on sat to keep tabs. Seen him play once for them and he looks quite cultured on the ball, won irn-bru young player of the month for march and could be a good player in coming years still only 20. Was at the monkeys when he was young and got released without being given a chance. Anyone else heard anything. Source is daily express http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_prem/8631522.stm
