  1. Some of his touches tonight were Lewandowskiesque. The way he dropped his shoulder for the second goal was beautiful. Of course, he has another option to bully the ball into the net when he can't be arsed with the tippy-tappy stuff.
  2. The players should be fine due to the air conditioned stadiums and being put up in 5 star hotels for the duration of the tournement. It's the fans who'll suffer most, having to cope in 40+ degree heat in an alcohol free, sexist and homophobic country. But when have Fifa ever cared about the fans?
  3. A good gesture but I'll reserve my praise until he shaves off that stupid wisp of hair under his bottom lip. No way a former Rangers player should be presenting himself.
  4. Really hard to call this season with the top 3 all changing managers. I think City are the slight favourites. Pellegrini done an excellent job at Malaga and has made impressive signings. Navas especially will be an improvement on Silva/Nasri trying to dribble round 4 players at a time. Man Utd still have the same team but most people have lost confidence in them due to the Moyes factor. Him repeatedly bidding for Fabergas was idiotic, he was never going to move, might as well of made an offer for Messi for all the good it done. They need a cm but I can't see Moyes getting anyone, losing out on Thaigo was a big mistake. I've got no idea how Chelsea are going to fair this season, I don't think you can call Mourinho's spell at Real Madrid successful especially towards the end of his time there when he lost the dressing room. However, they've got the quality needed to win the league and Jose tends to do well in his first season of a new club. Could do with buying a striker.
  5. 2010 League Cup final against St Mirren. A dire game even when it was 11v11, apart from Miller's goal I can't remember any proper chances for either team, I might be mistaken but I think St Mirren hit the bar in the first maybe? Anyway, it was a shockingly poor game.Thomson idiotically got sent off. Someone fouled him then he lost his head for the next minute and chased the ball about like a rabid dog looking to kick someone. At 10 men I still thought we could knick a goal then hold on for a 1-0, or even see out a 0-0 through extra time and win the penalty shootout. Then Wilson got sent off and I was 95% positive we were going to lose the game. Hardly created a chance for 80 minutes a now down to 9 men. God, typing this now reminded me how brutal watching us that day was. I was prepared to leave as soon as St Mirren scored. Then the ball broke to Naismith with Miller in support. I was shouting for him to play it to Novo who was running down the left in a bit of space. Instead he played a cross that was almost perfect for Miller to head in. The next few minutes were a sickly mix of unexpected joy and shaky nervousness, with St Mirren getting corner after corner. Then relief and the celebration at the final whistle watching half (well, a quarter) of the stadium empty in silence with their expectation crushed was brilliant, call me sadistic or whatever but seeing the disappointed and pain on their faces was a joy to behold. Honourable mention to: Queen of the South 2008, an odd choice I'll grant you but for me at least it was a nice way to end the horrific comedown from that season, a chance to applaud the players for the extraordinary effort they put in for 60+ games that season.
