  1. when we were in the lower leagues he was a breath of fresh air when he came on as a sub. The entertainment value went up when he played. I'm sad to see him go.
  2. I remember my days as a youth on the supporters bus. I sat up the back, my dad sat down the front. Lots of great away days but I have not been to an away match for a very long time with Manchester being my last 'away' game. When I was a lad the buses could not manage Aberdeen & back in the same day so we never went there.
  3. I really enjoyed that very first game. It proved we still existed, still had a team and were not going anywhere but up. I went to every single home game in the 3rd division so saw lots of terrible football but it was clear that we still had a wonderful support, take a bow lads & lassies.
  4. Fun Fact: I live in the North East of England so get the local news here. Marcus (Tav's brother) gets called TAVERNEEAY whereas our Tav is TAVENEER (though we originally pronounced it TAVERNEEAY) middlesbrough beat Sunderland 1 nil btw.
  5. I still have mine and he still blows up. I took it to the game in Barcelona. A Spanish police man wanted to buy it. When I sad 'no' he tried to burst it with a cigar but I got it away from him. I got it from a place on a wee street behind Renfrew street in Glasgow. I came away with an Everton one and had to go back and change it. It wasn't a shop, just a door you went to.
  6. Enjoy your first visit. Don't spend too much in the store. I don't really have a favourite place to sit. I preferred the original standing where you could walk freely to the other end at half time. Worst seat is in the glass boxes. You don't feel like you are at the game.
  7. yea, he's done, a great job for the club that is
  8. Can't remember exactly. It was a cup final well over 50 years ago, against ceptic I assume. My memories include seeing banners from around the world (I remember Canada specifically) and the crush when all the fans surged forward (standing of course). Men peeing into beer cans then knocking them over to get rid of the contents. (for you younger people beer cans did not have ring pulls. You used a can opener so you could go all the way round to open up the top, like a sheriff's badge and make a big enough opening). I do remember standing on empty cans to try and get a better view but maybe not that same game. Now I'm off to check to see if I can identify that game.
  9. Only one, Spain, Barcelona in '72. Also England if that counts (Manchester) Been all over Scotland to watch Rangers but never once set foot in parkhead.
  10. This incident is beyond understanding. How can anyone brought up anywhere in the civilised world think that this is a fun thing to sing about. It would appear that some celtic fans are so demented that they support any attacks against our armed forces and seek to get enjoyment singing about it !?! There must be someone on their board of directors who will stand up and say 'enough is enough'. They can't all be this bad surely ? Or have they become so warped that they will stand by even the worst of their support ?
  11. Hah, I checked Newcastle & they were not going there. Stupid me
  12. travelling on the A69 east to west this morning it was full of coaches & mini buses heading east . I gave the V sign to as many coaches as I could manage. (I can't delete so I edited)
  13. It was either Ayr United or Greenock Morton, 50 something years ago, I don't remember the scores but I think we scored 4 against Ayr. Too long ago. I have much better memories of my first Ibrox visit even though I was younger.
  14. there are plenty of things fans can do at the match that don't bring the club into this unwelcome spotlight so why do those things that do. Have fun, have a laugh enjoy the game but don't do daft things that are obviously going to cause issues.
  15. one of the worst of that shower. Stay away we don't want you and don't need you. If a few of you deserters had stayed we would have been a year further on than we are more than likely.
  16. The old pics are great. The terracing was part of my formative years. Stood there many a time in all weathers including our run to the Cup Winners Cup final.
  17. No worries, It's only a few quid anyway.
  18. I will check the website. It's an odd thing how different places are with concessions. I'm getting them more often than not. It's because of equality. Men quality at the age a woman would retire in a lot of cases
  19. It's down to what age they class as 'pension age'. I'm 63 and getting a reduced price quite a few places. It's funny but also useful
  20. anyone know what the concession age is? (I will go try and find out). I'm getting used to cheaper cinema tickets & get a bus pass soon :))
  21. If you don't figure it out let me know. I regularly learn new songs on the guitar and can play by ear so can just about figure anything out
  22. No congrats from me. I thought he was true blue. Never for a moment did I think he would join the 'my career comes first' brigade. I remain disappointed with him. The others hardly bothered me and I don't care we got some cash for him.
  23. It's not just what transpired when we were abandoned to the Third Division. Look what happened to us when we had a European Final coming up in 2008. Totally insane fixture list and absolutely no help from the authorities. The truth is they don't give a damn about us except that they can see that they are worse off without us. It became very clear that the Blue Pound was badly missed.
  24. I'm gonna try to make this game. Just need to organise some DIY at the daughter's flat for free digs and I'm sorted.
