It's not good to get carried away with a player who we've only seen play for one full game, but it can't be denied that the signs are good. I noted a lot of quick and smart touches from him, some creative moves he tried to initiate that didn't quite come off but were good ideas. I also saw him running at players and he looks fast and strong along with the intelligence. I think he was also rallying players which is mad considering his age, experience and time at the club so far.
I'm not getting carried away as I say, we will see how he fares. Regardless, how fitting that he scored the winner when we were about to drop points. An explosive moment, a wonderful finish. It was a brilliant moment and I have been happily reliving/rewatching it since. He turned my night into a great night with that, one of these things that makes supporting your club so good. The guy came in when the chips are/were down and we needed a lift. He came in with expectation on his shoulders and a fanbase in dire need of a shot in the arm (not the Hibs kind). We seldom see players make an impact that quickly and make good on that expectation.
I know it's only Hibs at home, and we are behind with it all to do and we gave them the initiative again, but for me this was a fucking great goal and an unforgettable moment.

    Stewart doing todays presser.
I take it from that he won’t be in squad tomorrow.

I'm not going to knock him, if some of our players showed the professionalism and energy he showed we wouldn't  be behind the scum.

His retirement statement is interesting. Shows pics from his whole career except them. Makes a specific point of singling out Rangers and Walter Smith for praise very much nailing his colours to the mast. Personally I wish him well and think he was a good servant for us in all his spells, but that period of signing for them always baffled me. Perhaps he might talk about it in some future interview.

And people were saying last week we should re-sign him as cover, a week before he gives up playing for Partick Thistle. I know most weren't serious but some were 😂
Anyway, even in other circumstances he was a fantastic player for us over a very lengthy period of time. Both as a partner for Boyd and later on when he was scoring about 30 goals before Christmas himself.

Can’t wait till the players get used to playing with him, he played 3 balls behind their defence and Kent and Aribo were standing on their heels expecting it to go square.

Barisic reads him well, was an inch away from playing him in twice. Shows that if you have that kind of technical ability and intelligence it’ll click

Neil Warnock called him a sewer rat and said Walter Smith had gone down in his estimations for signing him.
    Then signed him himself!

Looks as though we could play to midnight here and not score.

If he can chase a ner do well down the street he can play tonight.

I'd rather not risk him tonight incase it made it worse then he ends up missing Aberdeen and Hibs tbh.
Hopefully we change our system to suit Defoe, because i can't cope with another hearts performance straight away tbh.

Drop Flanagan and Kamara. Even put Docherty in.

    Polster in for Flanagan
    Kamara should be dropped...Over rated
Aribo should not be played on the wing
I just pray that Ojo or Barker dont get a start !!

What's the gut feeling for tomorrows line up?
This will tell me where SG is as a manager, he has publicly slated 75% of the team on Sunday (rightly so) I for one will be disappointed if he doesn't shake things up by benching or dropping a good few!!
No way can Flanagan get a strip so Polster should play right back with young Patterson getting a subs strip.
Alfie for Defoe also a no brainer....it's the midfield 3 that intrigues me with what he will do....Jack being injured I would drop Kamara and bring in Mcrorie, Docherty or even Halliday , Davis as honking as he was gets a bit of grace as he has been more consistent than Kamara of late, I think Arfield will get the nod playing further up field possibly behind Morelos, I think kent and Aribo will also keep their slots...thoughts?

I still insist that the match thread and indeed others is polluted by low posting taigs and haters who tend to bring so much hysteria anytime we struggle a wee bit.
Place needs a right good clear out of the offending cunts.
I still fancy us for this title. I really do.
I've been to Tynecastle with Championship winning sides and seen us struggle in the past. I do accept that yesterday was so not good enough in terms of getting the basics right.
But until it's over I'm giving up no title to no cunt. Let's hope other teams try half as hard against the scum as they always seem to do against us. Plus we get to play them twice more in the League.
Starting v Ross County then the sheepshaggers we need to see us back to winning ways.

As someone else posted earlier, it feels like some posters have never witnessed a title race. It's only late January, plenty more twists and turns to come.

The legs might have gone but wednesday night showed he is pivotal in these games at ibrox when they park the bus!
The problem is 90 mins on wed followed by 90mins on sunday isnt the way he can be managed now.
End of the day it comes down to Morelos stupidity at Parkhead that we are relying on Defoe for 3 games in a row
