Quite right, enjoy his honesty. Speaks volumes what is essentially a kid from a youth team down South in his first season is openly calling out the senior players around him as basically bottle merchants.

I've been involved in title challenges at amatuer level both as a player and as a organiser and well..... Once you were at the business end and had a sniff of winning - it was easy to run a team. Mood was great, everyone was willing, etc.
Sure the performance would drop off if the challenge died, but until that point.....
Sure it's amatuer level, but surely it scales up to the pro ranks.
Our drop off is bizarre. Against Ross County it was like guys downed tools. I can't understand why that would even happen with so much at stake - even if the players hated Clement
I fully believe it’s mentality. 90% of the time we have fuck all to play for in April and May. Even Williamson pointed out we had wrapped up the league in March when we won it.
In April/May for the past 4 seasons we’ve competed in 3 finals and lost 2 if i remember right.
The team have mentally checked out because they don’t have the minerals to push themselves that bit further which is what success requires

Again, I’m not talking about the past, I’m talking about the here and now and what we require this Summer.
Short of a board member ponying up a significant chunk of money from their own pocket where are we getting the money to fund a rebuild of at least 10-12 players at the level we require this Summer?
All 6 players out of contract on crazy wages will be a good start.
Koppen should know who Clement wants and not, so the feelers should be out there for guys like Matondo, Davies, Dowell etc those on the periphery. Lammers is doing well enough in Holland to gain a transfer fee.
The issue right now is Clement needs some of these guys for the last games of the season. Tav, Goldson, Dessers etc so can’t exactly turn round and say it’s game over. But there is definitely money there and money to be made off this squad. Add in the inevitable sale of Butland and we should have a bit of cash to play with.
If all out of contract players go plus another 4-5 you could genuinely be talking around £20m in wages alone which is absolutely staggering considering the return we’re getting.
There is and should be room for money to be spent in the summer. They can’t seriously hand Beale £15m and leave this manager wae fuck all

We simply don’t have the finances for it to happen in one window, which is literally what I said in my post.
What assets are we selling for close to 30 million, like they did, to fund a rebuild of a squad that’s already bloated with players like Tav, Lawrence, Dessers and Goldson who have years left on the best contracts of their lives, while going up against a side who now have an ingrained culture of winning, which is something we haven’t for over a decade now.
It’s easy to say it’s based on absolutely nothing when your counter argument is literally nothing more than “aye but Fat Ange did it so why can’t we”
That’s not entirely the case though is it. They’ve spent £6m or more on about 4 players in 20 years. In the past 4 seasons they brought in Furuhashi, Hatate, Abada, Johnstone etc all for less than £5m each and in some cases less than £3m.
In that time we spent £14m on Matondo, Davies, Dessers and Lammers just to name 4.
They shop in similar transfer budget areas as us, even with X amount of millions more in the bank.
We’re the club with the highest wage bill in the country. If reports are correct we have 6 of the 7 highest paid players in Scotland.
But aye, finances.

We won the league in March that year unbelievably so April and May didn’t matter too much
Proves me point further That is incredible. Domestically for 4 seasons then, bar the Scottish cup final, we’ve no been bothered with the business end of the season. Sounds about right.

The level of overhaul to get the squad that Clement wants and needs is never going to be achieved in one window.
Man City didn’t even manage it when they brought Pep in and that was with as close to unlimited resources as any club is ever likely to have.
Honestly sick of listening to this absolute nonsense. When Postecoglu came into celtic he had about 12 players to pick from. Fast forward 9 months and he’s walked to a double. Another 12 and he’s won a treble. It’s clearly doable we just don’t have the mentality of it.
Everything associated with us is a “process” “takes time” “give xyz a year to bed in”. Slow, pondering about hopeful of picking up a cup or stopping them winning another treble.
Sick of listening to the same old excuses, based on absolutely nothing.

The mentality/pressure thing is a bit tedious. It’s definitely a factor but it’s not everything.
If this team was to play Ross County in a pressure free friendly this week I’d fully expect an absolute struggle again.
It’s clearly absolutely everything. We all of a sudden found ourselves in with a chance of a league title with 8 to play.
The first alarm bell was Motherwell, played before they went to Tynecastle. Shat it but bailed out by Hearts.
The second was 20 seconds and then 45 minutes into an Old Firm that if you win, 95% of the time you win the league, at home, with no away fans.
The third was Sunday and the fourth was last night.
The ONLY common theme of those 4 games is that the pressure ramps up with each one. It’s all well and good trundling along 7-9 points behind and playing well. Suddenly there’s something to fight for and it’s tools down, hiding and don’t want to do it because they’re used to April and May being a complete wash out every season bar 1.

Don't forget the moronic decisions that have been made at boardroom level as well.
I said it on here months ago that it's just absolutely typical of us to give an utter fraud like Beale a fortune to piss away only to sack him a couple of months later, then we bring in someone like Clement to hope and pray that he's a miracle worker.
It's fucking maddening.
Yup. Now the best manager we’ve had in about 15 years has almost 2 hands tied behind his back fighting against another club with another CL windfall and having to get rid of the same old faces. All the while trying to get the best out of what he’s got, identity talent for the apparent “player trading model” and above all, win trophies.
I’ve no doubt if you look at where he’s won trophies, the synergy and professionalism between himself, board and players will have been at its peak. He’s fighting a losing battle with probably less than £10m to spend in the summer and relying on shifting 12+ players to recreate a mentality that he aligns with

Not wrong, tbh, but like Goldson after the semi-final against Hibs - why would you come out and say it?
It was 5 years ago now. As captain and then as the senior leadership group, they’ve not once tried to change it. That’s the issue.
Souness said it himself, he couldn’t believe there was still chat about the league title win the season after round the club and with the players. Job done mentality since

It was in the Rangers programme the night Hamilton beat us 1-0 I’m sure. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong

Still can’t believe that was in a match programme
I’ve backed him forever but time is up. I’m sure that was before the Hamilton game which was essentially costing Gerrard his job until the season was ended.
Since it’s been the exact same outcome 80% of the time. 15 trophies up for grabs, 3 won. They’ve won a double or treble in every season bar 1 since this quote.

Deserves criticism over his lack of press and how far the rest of the team are behind the main striker. They are about 20 yards and let these teams play out from the back.
Scottish football isn’t hard. Our players are better you put them under pressure straight away and we get the ball bank but instead we’re happy to drop deep and give them time on the ball.
We pressed when Clement first came in and got results. I don’t know why that’s changed
It’s changed because the players actually had a chance of winning something, thought fuck that it’s the end of the season these are usually glorified friendlies for us and are making sure the split means nothing for 3 of the last 4 seasons because it suits them. That’s what’s changed.
There isn’t a chance from Hearts, Hibs or even Benfica away literally a month ago the manager has went ye know what lads, let’s pass about safely in wee triangles, punt the ball aimlessly and not string two passes together. They players are finished and the fans need to let them know it.
-
Sit his agent and him down and show him 10 performances like the last 2 games compared to 10 minutes of what he’s actually given in his career.
A player who hasn’t beat Celtic in 90 minutes in any game that had a pressured outcome.

I’m not even sure you can blame the manager for the style of football either. They shitebags on the park have literally reverted to type in every other aspect, so going back to playing within the shell they need protection for isn’t really a surprise either. We’ve seen it under 3 managers and I highly doubt the manager has changed tactics from blowing Hearts, Hibs away, to the performance against Benfica away to not being able to string two passes together.
The core of this time has had enough time, couldn’t care about their length of service, I hope there is banners at Ibrox demanding they are put out the club

I don’t think the manager who has won 3 league titles and cups is the issue.
His head has gone Ok. If anyone knows anything about league winning pressure it’s Clement.
It’s the same players that are the issue.

Losers to a man. You can literally see them desperate to be out of the title race before Parkhead.
Not one wants to stand up and be counted. Tav, Goldson, Lundstram and Barisic will be delighted when it’s over before Parkhead. It means when they ship 4 again it won’t really matter in their heads

is there something bigger at play here. the drop off has been incredible. its not a blip or fitness. what is happening behind the scenes
It can’t be levelled at fitness or just a drop in form, injuries etc. This is now clear as day a mentality issue. They’re that used to the end of the season meaning fuck all, they can’t cope with it actually meaning something.

Gerrard, Gio, Beale, Clement.
The one constant? The senior “leadership” group.
Shit the bed in added time against St Mirren and St Johnstone with a clear path at a treble in the cups.
Shit the bed in 3 of the past 4 league seasons.
Shit the bed in numerous games at Hampden.
Shit the bed for almost 3 consecutive years (still to come) with an annual doing at Parkhead.
Now looking inevitable even with victory tonight that they’ve shit the bed even at the thought of another treble.
Tav, Goldson, Barisic and now Lundstram. They need hounded out this club.

Even the most ardent in our support surely can’t back these players now. There is literally no other argument other than a complete lack of bottle and mentality. There is nothing that has changed in that time, we’ve had injuries all season, loads of games etc
They are that used to the business end of the season being worth absolutely nothing they’ve made this one the exact same.
Spineless

Cynical maybe but they’re playing like a team who don’t want to be in a title race, who don’t want a showdown at Parkhead with 60,000 hating you.
A team of mice.

Sterling is the exact type of player clearly physically and mentally we should be looking at. Young, hungry, athletic and clearly desperate for success.
He’s literally a blue print of when you win your first trophy it develops the hunger for more. He sounds completely pissed off at whatever seems to have happened behind the scenes
