  1. Without Garner we can't go long so we have to endure the nerve wracking spectacle of our defenders trying to play tippy tappy passes out of defence against teams that know to press us deep in our own half. Garner isn't a footballing superstar, he wouldn't be here if he was, but it's very much a case of what he brings to the team outweighing his individual abilities. I still think the lad will bang a few goals in for us in time but at the moment I'm more than happy to appreciate the clear benefits he brings. Look back to the St Johnstone game where the atmosphere was getting pretty toxic as the defence couldn't bring the ball out, the support was screaming at Foderingham to go long and then screaming at him again when the ball inevitably came straight back as we didn't have anyone who could win them. Look at the first Hearts game where any ball up the park to Dodoo was basically wasted and again came straight back to us as he doesn't have the physicality/ ability to lead the line. Teams now know they've go to be able to defend a long ball as well and that means not just covering Garner but also trying to match any runs for knock ons. That in turn is giving us a bit more space and stretches the play, allowing others to thrive. Oh, and let's not forget he probably played the best through ball of the game on Friday night. A sublime pass. One final thing, the Sebo comparisons are ridiculous. Sebo may have given his all but unfortunately he brought nothing to the team.
  2. I've gotta ask, have those who have a poor opinion of Garner been attending the games recently? I'm just wondering if a lot of what he brings to the team isn't as obvious on tv as it is at the game. I honestly can't see any other reason why he wouldn't be rated.
  3. Jeez, Garner would've taken that fella's head off if he's missed that header
  4. A few players hitting form again recently. Things seem to be coming together for us.
  5. We've had a number of players who came through the ranks and went on to do well for themselves elsewhere or were sold on at a decent profit. That's the nature of bringing young players through, they won't always make it at the club they've been with as a youth but that doesn't mean there's been a failure anywhere. Ross McCormick for example went on to be sold at a Scottish record transfer fee iirc. Unfortunately we never got it but does that mean we somehow failed in his development? I'd say no, he just required going to a lesser club to improve as a player, something that wouldn't be possible at Rangers given our expectations.
  6. Gilmour does look as though he has the makings of a very good player. He'd be nuts to go to Chelsea
  7. I find it hard to believe that anyone who doesn't see Garner's worth has been in the games recently. Against Hearts at Tynecastle our main problem was we couldn't handle Hearts pressing us and we were all over the place trying to bring the ball out. Rushed passes, players looking nervous taking the ball in tight positions and just a general lack of ideas. When we went long to Dodoo it was a wasted pass as he wasn't winning anything. Since then Garner has come in, given us an option that we didn't have and the team as a whole look far more confident. He wins balls in the air, he wins fouls, he drags defenders around and his link up play is looking better. It also helps that we're not just lumping the ball up to him but actually picking him out with diagonal balls etc. He may not have scored in the games against Aberdeen or Hearts but we've come out of both of them with 6 points and I'm pretty certain that wouldn't have been the case if Garner hadn't been playing.
  8. I'm torn on this one. I've been a fan of the idea of us taking action against some of those who continually post lies about us but the problem is you need to do it all the time. If you've taken a couple of them to court and then fail to take any sort of action against someone then the narrative will be that you never done it because what they've posted is true. Of course the hope would be that by publically taking action against a couple of them that it would nip it in the bud and scare off others but I'm not sure that would be the case. I know ill phil is out of the country but I'm just surprised that others somehow still manage to walk the streets without any consequences...
  9. Same thing happens with Derry's Walls when we concede. I actually think it can be spin tingling at times when you have the silence following a goal we've conceded and then the defiance of Derry's Walls being belted out.
  10. Time will tell but our style of play has changed in the last couple of games and we're getting the ball to the strikers much quicker (hence the 1 on 1 on the keepers we keep seeming to miss). We've moved on.
  11. You think it's okay to let a MSP get away with this pish?
