I can't actually believe that both our captain and vice captain would talk about the poor mentality of the squad in the manner that they have. Sterling talks about it in a frustrated way, that he doesn't know why the mentality is lacking, but Tavernier and Goldson have spoken about it in a defeatest manner. I think we need the dry rot out of our club. I think we are making a massive mistake offering Lundstram a new contract, as we did with Goldson last season. I hope to god that Borna has agreed a contract elsewhere too. Tav i would keep, but we need more players with the attitude of Sterling and Butland, we need players who won't accept mediocrity and one trophy every other season.

There's no real rhyme nor reason for it either. Worked our asses off to get back into a title race, we go ahead and then one defeat and our arses collapse. The mentality of a majority of the squad is so fragile. We need rid asap and need a fair number of mentally hardened players.

I think Clement has spotted the weak mentality early on. When he said "we take one game at a time", i assumed he said that to put a lid on people getting carried away. Looks like it was really because we have such a shite mentality that the vast majority of the players can't handle the pressure of winning enough games to win leagues.

To be honest, i hope he doesn't get a new deal as I think for the money he would be on, we can get better value, but from media reports i've read he is close to agreeing a new deal.

I don't think we would have got the same player Ferguson has blossomed into if we had signed him while he was at Aberdeen. The move abroad may have been the kickstarter to him achieving his potential.

If there's any game that we need to see a reaction in, then a cup semi final is it. You can predict already what Hearts will do. They'll go for an early goal and then sit and frustrate us. As soon as that happens, they know the atmosphere will turn. I just don't at this moment have the confidence that we will see the reaction we need.

How long does he have left on his contract? He's absolutely awful.

The league is the biggie obviously, but the cups all matter and they go towards the building of our amazing club history. We didn't become the worlds most successful club on league titles alone.

You can guarantee that if they won the treble, or if other teams won the cups, a lack of any trophy would be highlighted and used against the manager.

It's a weird one. If we win both cups it should be seen as a somewhat successful season, and looking back it probably would be, but I think this season is a gutter regarding the league as we had it in our hands and have thrown it away.

I've supported him in the past and have defended him mainly because of his goal threat, but the last few games he has been awful.

Goldson should have been gone when he was out of contract and held off signing on again as he was waiting to see what else he was offered.

That's it in a nutshell. It's no easier or more difficult than that. They work their socks off and our players don't realise that you have to equal or better the opposition's workrate and then you can use your ability to gain the advantage. We were doing that when Clement came in, but now we've downed tools.

He gets a pass for me but only because he's a youth player playing his first full season of first team football, and we will need a few squad options like him and Yfeko around (although i don't think he is good enough to start either).

I'd add McCausland to the list, but only if he and Souttar are squad players. There is a genuine derth in quality in our squad.

We're pretty much at that stage already. We need to win all 5 games and batter the goals in as the gd has taken a tanking over recent weeks. We'll be awful again in the cup semi then if we get knocked out the performances will improve. It's rinse and repeat for the core we have had for the last 6/7 years.

And that's why we need to be giving the manager time. We have to back him and give him at least next season and a chance to bring his own players and way of playing in instead of the situation we are in where the same players are making the same errors time and time again. There needs to be a clearing of the decks in terms of playing staff.
