Dont think was going to get much better. Form was inconsistent. Also one footed and very slow to turn. Rather go with Bates who although has rough edges too has more potential to be a better defender. Another way of looking at this (and it's more in hope than any substantial info) is that this rumoured investment might have been a factor.

We definteky need a core of homegown bears in our team who know what the score is. They in turn should guide the foreigners in our ranks. Those foreigners should come from old Rangers players around the world who have their eyes and ears wide open to emerging local talent eg like JJ knew about Morelos. They turnover more money (just now) because of the Champions League and their feel good factor but that can change very quickly if we can get our act together. I know Tav has his critics but i'd be delighted if he signed a new deal. Of course, there are some weaknesses in his game. Me and my mates were discussing this al, the way backup from the game - he really is a good footballer,athletic,quick, strong and a genuine attacking threat. He's no Sandy Jardine but lets face it if we had a Sandy Jardine nowadays he would be in the prem as quick as look at him.
