As a player have never gave less than 100% - you said it Neither did he give less than 100% when tirelessly protesting and leading demonstrations to remove the previous board. Now a scout - I don’t doubt he’ll be giving less than 100% to that role too, so I don’t get the animosity towards the guy. So like I said, he’s done a lot for the club, be bleeds red, white and blue and certainly doesn’t deserve the animosity aimed at him.

Where is everybody reading that this could have changed to a loan deal? the SS link has no mention of it. I don’t think we would have pulled out due to having to pay £1m upfront so I’d expect to hear news of a permanent deal tomorrow. I’d be shocked if that doesn’t happen.

If it gives us the chance to regroup, experiment, bed in new signings, recharge the others, it’s probanly worth it. However, do miss the 3 weeks without games to watch.

Harsh reality. Money has ruined the game. I’m also a Man City supporter, always have been and went to games when they visited London in the 2nd and 3rd tiers. However, now that they are at the top in England and knocking on the Door of a CL title, they’ve become less appealing to me and all because they’ve bought that success to a certain degree. That’s why winning the SPL in our position (and dare I say it...going on a wee European run) would be the most amazing feeling - and I’m as passionate about us now, as much as when we were spending 5+ million easily, and as much as 12million on Flo (is that still a Scottish record?).

No chance of that. Have a look at his career so far - 7 loan clubs in as many years before joining us. Now a regular in the first team of a much bigger club for the last 3 years, playing his best football, creating and scoring goals whilst improving his defensive skills, so can’t see him wanting to risk going back to where he was. The game against them also shows he has the ability to handle the biggest games, but like EVERYONE else he needs to show it on a more consistent basis. I think he will.

The most promising youngsters in the game will be attracted to the biggest clubs for 3 things money, pride and honours. There’s no way that Mini-Gerrard would have moved from Liverpool if he thought they were fighting hard to keep him - I guess he saw signs that they wouldn’t be too bothered.

I don’t see any evidence that remotely suggests Alves is a bottler. Not so long ago everyone was raving about him. Sure he’s had a couple of wobbles otherwise he’s been consistently good. Get a grip guys. We all thought Bates had a great game after replacing Alves on Saturday, but that was an unusual Bates performance, the likes of which we have not seen before. Let’s wait and see before heralding him as our new saviour.

Murty was shoehorned in out of the blue and has had some dreadful results as well as some terrific ones, but looking at Walter’s first 20 games, it does look like a similar pattern (minus the defeat over them) so it’s an encouraging statistic, but I wouldn’t compare them as two rookie managers.

Despite the injury, Alves has not lived up to expectations, that’s for sure. However, I find the sentiments very harsh, he’s been worthy of his place in the team. Easy to say that today with Bates having a stormer but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves.
