Or play strong through the middle instead of trying to shoehorn non-wingers into playing wide hoping they’ll cross because crossing has been so productive for us?

    Sterling/Lundstram

    Diomande/Cantwell

    Silva/Dessers

    4-2-2-2

We have to accept the fact that we have no decent wide players.

If Yilmaz isn't available then Barisic. This wont be the team though.

We’ve all got two teams, the one we’d pick if it was up to us and the one we all know Clement will pick.

  3. Watershed summer coming up for Clement.

He has worked wonders for some time with perennial duds but their true natures have re-emerged recently.

He will now know who he can trust and who has to go and go ASAP.

No money in January but he appeared to have pulled three rabbits out of the hat in Cortes, Diomande and a £35m player in Silva.

First two signed on the never-never and will cost £6/7m but they look decent prospects. Silva can leave anytime.

So whatever kitty there was going to be is down a fair whack already. However, the wages saved, even if you only count OOC players, will be significant if quality freebies can be found. And that’s before you try selling off the failures, although we’ll not get much for them, if anything.

Complete overhaul, limited budget and he may have to consider anything over 10m for Butland to fund 2/3/4 recruits needed elsewhere.

We’ll soon know just how good he is.

He's has had a lot of injuries lately and is in his 30s.

I don't think he is a bad player, definitely can add something to the squad, but he is miles off the pace.

Might have made a go of it had it not been for his injury but you go into our treatment room with two sore feet and you come out six months later like Lieutenant Dan.

I'm clearly missing something but I don't get what people are raving about. The words he says, when written down, read well but listening to him say them he sounds absolutely void of confidence and drive. Although maybe that's just his personality and beneath that he's raging.

He's got me worried if that's an indication of the general atmosphere around the team.

The key difference is the honesty of his words as opposed to the bland nothingness offered by others at the club.

Personally, I’d build a team for next season around Butland, Yilmaz, Cortes (assuming that deal can be closed), Diomande and Sterling and give Dujon the armband.

  6. Caught a bit of this taking my grandson home from training and they played two interviews.

One was Clement which most of us agree was all about protecting his players while there are still games to play.

The other was Dujon Sterling being brutally honest about the last couple of games. He didn’t name names but he made it clear that, in his eyes, there was a shitload of underperforming going on.

If anyone can find the clip (around 6.30ish) it’d be good to share it.

He has become really important to us and his honesty was refreshing and a welcome change from the “we learn our lessons and move on” pish we normally get.

Could become a major influence in future seasons, perhaps even a future captain if he impose himself more.

Its down to the board not Clement

If we don't have a pot to piss in we won't do a squad overhaul

    Not about money alone.

By lunchtime, I could pick you a team from “average SPFL players” that we could pick up for buttons and who would walk all over our usual suspects.

The effort shown by our opponents in the last 2 games says it all for me.

  8. If he can get a full preseason into Sterling, Yilmaz, Diomande, Cortes, Danilo and Butland and recruit a blend of hungry young Scottish players together with gems uncovered by our new recruitment team, then we start next season with hope.

Big overhaul required also of our medical, training and sports science personnel too. Players going off for months at a time should be exceptional, not standard for a routine injury.

  9. Sick of seeing hard working SPFL journeymen outplay our “superior” stars recruited from England and Europe.

They know their jobs, they are organised, they support each other and they work their socks off.

Meanwhile, “Goldson to Tavernier, back to Goldson, on to Souttar zzzzzzzzz”

Our opponents have time, literally, to put up a wall to defend their box.

Keep Sterling and Butland - get the rest to fuck.

  10. The lack of awareness shown by the midfield in covering for full backs pushing forward has cost us.

The current 4-2-3-1 might need to switch to a traditional 4-4-2 with the wider midfielders realising the importance of their defensive duties too.

Used to be Jack and Kamara but, these days, a middle four of Lundstram, Sterling, Cantwell and Diomande supporting Sima and Dessers might work?

We’ve moaned about width but we don’t have a single quality wide player these days and, even if we did, we rarely seem to win headers in the box anyway.

Flat four across the middle and two up top has to be worth a try imo.

    Not their style, mate.

Go for the jugular, a lesson we would do well to learn.

Win your games, collect a treble, make yourself and your manager heroes.

Its that simple when you strip away all the bullshit.

you stick to your morals, Colin, I’m happy with mine

Our morals are the same, I think, and I speak as a grandfather of kids at school and nursery.

However any organisation can inadvertently employ a monster but the real crime is how they address the issue when the pervert is found out.

I have a special place in hell for our neighbours for many reasons including the number of perpetrators, the number of victims, the number of years of cynical denial - theirs is a unique case which I’ve heard stories about since I played amateur in the 70s and is probably the worst in the history of sport.

Does Raskin know chapter and verse on Chelsea’s history? I seriously doubt it.

I condemn every club guilty of a fraction of the atrocities committed by scum staff and coaches but I simply don’t have the time or the inclination to maintain a record of which other clubs are guilty of what and when.

    Life is too short.
