  1. The usual massive Fashion cheeser isn’t there in his Saudi pics today. I’m sure the cash will soften the blow but it definitely sounds and looks like he’s gutted to be leaving. Proper forced smile on him. Right decision for him to leave from our perspective though
  2. Yep, play Cantwell as the 10 and if anything, push Lammers up next to Danilo. Cantwell had a cracking end to last season and showed he can score. Lammers has shown he can finish too, so play him as the 2nd striker. By doing so, it takes the pressure off Dessers for a little while and lets him build up his fitness, as playing when he’s not up to speed is doing him no favours at all.
  3. We had arguably our best ever season of attacking football, and scoring tons of goals, under McLeish in 2003 playing 433.
  4. Beale has overthought this setup horribly. His whole recruitment has been based around it by the looks of it and it’ll be his, and our, undoing. Having no pace or width when modern day European football is all about that, is a rookie and ridiculous mistake. Back to 4231 for me, and fast, for this one. Butland Tav Goldson Souttar Borna Raskin Jack/Cifuentes Cantwell Lammers Sima Danilo Even writing that out brought home how we have zero options for a left sided forward/winger. Utter madness.
  5. This was a stick on for happening today, regardless of line up. We’ve been disjointed, slow and powderpuff all preseason. Add in that pitch, total recipes for disaster.
  6. Not loving that team. Midfield especially. Hopefully it does the business but it looks like Beale’s overthought it.
  7. Does anyone know if this will be shown live on RTV if you’re abroad?
  8. The truth is, this is what he does. He did exactly the same at Sheffield United. Great season one year, then chucks it the next. He downed tools at them before he signed for us and he’s done the same here. Aside from 3-4 months, he’s a fucking imposter.
  9. Watch him and Arfield play absolutely pish now that they’re starting. It’s been a massive issue all season (and last season as well): too many that come on and make an impact as a sub are then fucking woeful when given a start
  10. I wasn’t impressed with him at all while at the Record, but the Rangers Review definitely isn’t affiliated to the Reach Group in any way. It’s affiliated to the company behind the Herald, Glasgow Times etc
  11. Souttar was a disaster that we all saw coming in terms of injuries. A ridiculous decision. But I think a lot of people have short memories in forgetting that Balogun had become seriously injury-prone himself last season and couldn’t be relied on to play many games either. His playing time was continually being managed. On top of that, he was being slated for a good few performances, too. Neither were what we required and we should’ve went all in on Doekhi (who was out of contract), or someone of that ilk.
  12. We really are a mental support. A few weeks ago when he was up for the Aberdeen game, so many people were excitedly hoping it pointed to him taking over. Now he’s not up to it. Genuinely don’t know who people realistically think we can get that don’t have negatives as well. Every name that’s been mentioned has downsides/big question marks hanging over them. Gio was probably the first appointment since Advocaat that pretty much the whole support got behind unanimously. And look how that turned out.
  13. To be fair mate, Kamara was absolutely woeful from the start of last season under Gerrard, who couldn’t get a tune out of him from then at all. One of those who thought 55 was the job, done and dusted. He clearly lacks the mentality to be a top, top players, dictate a game and just hadn’t developed. He was offering us nothing. So he was rightfully dropped for a whole series of poor displays and has never really recovered since. He had the odd good cameo here or there, but was mostly utter pish. Gio realised he couldn’t trust him to turn up and contribute anything, and he was right.
  14. Absolute different gravy in Europe. Arguably, one of the most tactically astute managers around right now. His ability to size teams up, especially after a 1st leg, and know how to overcome them is really quite remarkable. If he could just take the hand break off in Scotland, we'd be flying both home and abroad.
  15. Tillman and Kent just don’t take enough care of the ball. Too often it’s a lazy pass after doing decent work. Putting us right under pressure needlessly and not getting us up the park. We can take this team if we could just learn to fucking shoot
  16. A truly shameful performance this. One of the very worst in Europe. Shame on Gio and the players.
  17. Kamara is, too often, fucking brutal. Slows play down, doesn’t take care or the ball. Really not sure what his position is after all these years. Sell.
  18. Think this pretty much confirms Shagger’s still going to start as No.1. Wrong call for me but otherwise, I’m liking that team
  19. Signing of the summer! Sensational. Outstanding news. Even though I still haven't forgiven him for not sticking out his big toe in the Europa final...
  20. Yeah, for me, Goldson’s positioning and then not attacking that ball ultimately cost us last night. Wel’ll never know obviously, but if we’d just seen it out a bit longer, we could well have been on for a 1-0. It was horrendous defending at a key moment. The players did amazingly to get us there. In the end though, too many played the occasion, and not the team. Too many just didn’t show up.
  21. Tbf mate, I’ve been saying it all along but I think the players are the ones who carry the can for the league this season. Mentality not being where it should’ve been, combined with horrendous individual errors which shipped goals that cost points is what fucked us. Ross county, hearts, motherwell x 2, Aberdeen etc - they were down to the players making a cunt of it and not putting teams away/gifting key goals. I reckon we have a gem in Gio and I think he’ll show it in the league next year.
  22. For me, obviously the dropped points are ultimately what has cost us (and not scoring enough/putting teams away earlier on in the season). But more than the points, this season capitulated through unacceptable individual errors by the likes of Shagger, Goldson, Bassey. Central to that though, aside from crippling injuries, half the team just didn’t turn up, mentality-wise. Kamara, Aribo, Borna, Alfie (early season), Kent, Roofe, Goldson. Too many didn’t turn up or look interested, including Gerrard. Sickening to see us hand the league to this tims side, who had their worst start to a league campaign. Attitude hasn’t been close to where it needed to be at crucial times.
  23. Tbf, if the players step up, show the mentality and play anything like we did against Dortmund/Red Star, we’ll do them comfortably.
