I think that’s a very good analogy. Whilst Moneyball is sort of specific to baseball, I’d say the principles are pretty much the same.
Its looking like Stevie G and the backroom staff have scoured for people who have a certain footballing prowess but are perhaps overlooked due to other aspects. Basically, he’s taken the base principles of football, i.e. can he pass/defend/shoot and has he got desire? Other aspects of the football can be learned which is similar to what Billy Beane did with the Oakland A’s.
