Well at the xmas do on Saturday I won the book ?FOLLOW ON 50 years of Rangers in Europe?, some great memories there, and here?s a quiz.

Obviously there?s an historical element to this, so I?ve put 2 questions in each of the decades from the 1960s onwards.

It?s quite tough, should sort out the stattos from the boys.

1. In the late 1970s how did footballing legend Alfredo Di Stefano combine with Mario Kempes and Rainer Bonhof to undo Rangers?

2. What club did Rangers beat 11-0 on aggregate?

3. Where did Rangers play Red Star Belgrade on 4/11/64?

4. Who did Rangers play in Warsaw on 27/9/01?

5. How far did Rangers progress in Europe in 1980/81?

6. What was unusual about Rangers penalty shoot out with Sporting Lisbon in November 1971?

7. Why were the Dinamo Kiev players surprised when they ran on to the Ibrox pitch in September 1987?

8. In November 1992 who became the first Brit to score in the Champions League Proper (ie group stage)?

9. Which future Ibrox employee scored a late winner against Rangers in September 1995?

10. What song did the Club re-introduce at the start of the Champions League game against Manchester United in October 2003?

Tie break. What was unusual about a European tie Rangers played in 1961?

usual rules, no google or other searches.

PM me your answers.

An entry at last.

1.5 for big_dado.

For clarification, #8 refers to the CL proper, not qualifiers.

Pfffttt, you didnt state that. :(

Still a f*cking poor score either way. :ph43r:

You can try that one again if you like.

I've played and I might be lucky and score 1! (hah)

Definitely won't as 1 is still less than your score, there was only one question I definitely know the answer to. Tried to think about the others but head just started hurting! :ph43r:

Well I think that's run its course, well done all who participated.

As has been said it was a tough quiz.

Here's the answers:

1. Alfredo Di Stefano managed the Valencia side which included Mario Kempes and Rainer Bonhof, who knocked Rangers out of the ECWC in 1979/80. Kempes? performance at Ibrox in November 1979 is regarded by many bears as the greatest ever by an opposition player.

2. Borussia Muenchengladbach, November 1960. Any other 'Borussia' got 0.5. Generous I know.

3. Highbury.

4. Anzhi Makhachkala.

5. Rangers didn?t qualify for Europe.

6. Rangers lost on penalties but went through nonetheless, as we had already won on away goals ( Ref?s mistake).

7. The pitch was narrower than when they?d trained on it.

8. Gary McSwegan.

9. Daniel Prodan.

10. ?The Blue Sea of Ibrox?.

Tie break. The ?home? leg against Vorwaerts of East Germany was played in Malmo, due to Cold War issues. It was abandoned after 45 minutes because of fog (Willie Henderson had scored on his European debut), then replayed at 10am the following morning. You choose what was most unusual.
