John Lloyd has stepped down as captain of Britain's Davis Cup team

No suprise, so what now for British tennis. It's in such a mess, and doesn't look like getting any better, anytime soon!? In 2005, I used to coach 273 people, I now have 117 - our club has gone from over 650 members, to 425.

Kids are just not interested in tennis anymore, and the same can be said for football, and golf.

Worrying times!

Would Draper not have been better going?

Murray has already ruled out Maclagan, along with Henman ruling himself out.

Not sure who would take it, maybe Rusedski :craphead:

Greg Rusedski is the favourite - I can't stand the guy, mainly due to his accent, and facial expression's, but he is pretty passionate, knowledgable, and want's to change the British game.

Pretty hard for anyone to come in, especially when there is not much to work with. People are slating Andy Murray, but at this moment in time, he has more important things to worry about, and concentrate on than playing Davis Cup tennis.

Have you been watching Indian Wells?

Caught quite a bit of it (tu)

Saw Baghdatis win over Federror and Ljubicic's win over Djokovic.

2 surprises.

Murray plays at 4am, definitely not watching that

Only saw two games, Rafa v Ancic, and just watched him beat Isner in three... he's looking good, and according to himself, injury free, which can only be a good thing.

I'll not be staying up for Murray. Tsonga v Soderling on at the moment, pretty pish, Tsonga making too many errors.

An official Tennis thread should be created, far more people would talk about it (tu)

Djokervic's serving was awful, as was his all-round game, he has been very poor recently.

But I can't say I'm complaining

Federer was pretty poor, although he choked three match points, like against Tsonga in Montreal.

Isner got most improved player of the year, pretty suprised by that - surely Soderling warranted that title!?

You would have thought so <cr>

Isner will never be a top player, his movement is awful :anguish:

Just winding you up

I usually only follow closely the grand slams and will watch the top players when they are playing randomly.

Surely time for big Andy to win a major after coming so close at the Australian Open?

If Federer fucks off some time soon, then Yes.

Muff, what age would you say tennis players reach their peaks.

It is different for all players, but is it usually 23-24?

I enjoy tennis although im not massively clued up on it,

Think Nadal will hit his peak again this year making it more difficult for Murray in his quest.

Federer is just class full stop.

I like Wawrinka and Del Potro, 2 players that hopefully raise their game this year.

I've followed Murray for a couple of years now but I've been too busy with work to watch any of Indian Wells. I've read about Murray's matches but how has he actually played?

If Murray doesn't win a major this year, he will never win a major.

I would usually say that players reach their peak between the ages of 23-26, but everyone is different. Some players peak at 23, others not until they are 27...

Watched a bit of the John Isner v Rafa match last night, Isner's movement has improved, and he hit some nice forehands, but Rafa was too good. He's playing well, Indian Wells suits Rafa's game to a tee, and his new strings means the ball is flying off his racket, with even more spin. He look's fit, and leaner, and his movement is where you would expect it to be. He's also getting good depth on both wings, where as before, he was dropping it far too short.

Soderling v Murray, and Berdych v Nadal.
