Eh? I'm arguing about what you are saying about GFG. I have a problem with this, and I gather, from what I've read, that Bear doesn't have a problem with me having a problem about it. But I've seen two specific things going on here tonight: 1, Bear has addressed GFG problem with this quite ok, apart from the odd point, and 2, another thing going on entirely, with abuse directed at GFG, a form of baiting if you like, and I don't like it. Some people have a bit of bravado about it, and I wonder how authentic they are. Hard men don't gang up one guy, or two, and do what GF has had to put up with tonight.

I'm intrigued, I'll admit, because I never knew this existed, but to expect no one to have a problem with it is a bit much.

I am calling GFG a taig, not because he doesn't like football hooliganism though, its cause he acts like one.

Have been out of the country for a long time so don't know about any organized groups, but when I attended most of my matches in the 60s and 70s there was no way any fans from anywhere would have dared, or been given any free rein to attack any of us near our ground. As I said, nothing organized just Bears looking out for Bears with other teams fans respecting that and keeping a low profile when they came to visit. IMO the way it should be.

PS... Excluding the tattie howkers, it was always fun when they visited (or vice versa) :)

I spoke to a Strathclyde Polis last night who tells me that they were 'pretty firm' with the Mancs when they last visited so much so that the Mancs were complaining that they (the polis) weren't playing the game.

Likewise when England came up to Hampden a few years back they were surprised at the 'firmness' of the Glesga polis.

As i said mate, they had 1000 “lads” up and a lot of them couldn’t move especially the ones up the town. But as you see in the youtube clip, and from peoples own testimonies there was enough of them got away from the escort and tok this piss and liberties.

Listen, football violence is very very wrong and i wish i did not love it the way i do. Don’t for one second think i am glorifying it for a second, i wish we could all go to games happy as larry, sit and sing then swap stories in the pub with the opposition fans after a game. But no, it’s the way we are, nothing can change that.

Have you considered taking all yer mates to Bellahouston Park to see Ratzi? :craphead:

One thing i've never really understood regarding Hooligans in Glasgow, Such a hard city but such little numbers fight at the football, why is that? You would think we'd be up there with the likes of Feyenoord and the Italian firms!

We talk about that too, but at Rangers, we are tight as fuck and it is very hard for anyone to get accepted into the fold. Back in the 80’s there was probably 2000 of us in all. We used to sit in the Govan red section and basically took all that over and that was when we had low crowds at Ibrox. Then the cops started to give us hassle there, Souness came, the Govan went all season ticket so we moved to the west enclosure.

Believe it or not i was with Feyenoord firm for 4 years too when i lived over there as well as my local Dutch 2nd div team called Dordrecht 90, and they were nasty as fuck and every friday night there was some sort of incident, it was almost like the 80’s for me again.

Many happy memories of those days . I am proud to have stood up to the threat of Aberdeen and Hibs back them. (tu)

It was good times.

Now a days the jail sentences we get are harsh as fuck when you compare it to other crimes.

A lad who had been with us for about 6 months, he had his first proper off in Glasgow, got nicked for affray (i think)......................2 years inside with no previous. The same day a child abuser got 6 months.

I am NOT defending the actions of any of us, we all know we can get badly injured and jailed

They were never much threat to us anyway. Mind you i took a slap or two from them once when i walked into their mob in George Sq. !

The away days on the special were more fun on the way back , when we hit the platform in Queen St. with a rousing "Hello". And to our delight finding Aberdeen there after playing the bheasts! Happened more than once if i remember right!

It happened all the time, we would wait for the bheasts to come back from away days. Brilliant times.

Remember our bar Minstrals down by the clydeside?

Why do football hooligans not take up boxing or some other sport where its one on one, they are fighters not just silly wee thugs who carry knives.

Any wee chav can be the bigman in a group it has to be said.

Are you using a worm by any chance? :D

There are plenty of Bears who may not be casuals but if they seen things kick off would be quite happy to steam in or at the very least would defend themselves and other Bears. That's the way it should be. Not defend each other and take kickings for the sake of our club's reputation? Fuck that.

That was a great bar, there was always someone from the ICF in there any day of the week. I can remember at the Scotland England game in 89 giving Liverpool an absolute hammering there then turning over West Ham up at Gordon st and round into Mitchell street down onto Argyle street and at that time they were considered the best in the UK.

That was some day

I think that's the best definition i could use to describe a lot of us who did go on the away days in the mid 80's

Never was in the ICF but knew a fair few who were and went to a lot of the away games with them.If trouble broke out on the way then you mucked in but if it didn't then we simply went to the game and home again.
