UEFA Cup Final Bears hung out to dry

Recommended Posts

This is the final thing I'll say on this thread (unless someone quotes me into response)

I am young. 25. 26 in October. But I've always believed (not brought up to, I'm probably the only REAL Rangers fan in my family) that Rangers fans stick together, no matter what.

We know some of those lads jailed were in the wrong. No-one denies that. But believe me, those boys are suffering right now. They are probably suffering thier own little demons in thier prison cells.

The better minded ones will be anguishing over what they have put thier family and friends through and the very last thing they need is so-called Rangers fans and fellow Bears slandering them and belittling them on forums and behind thier backs.

They were obviously no angels. No Rangers fan is condoning what they done - but we need some parity here. The biggest hooligans were the Manchester riot police and the biggest culprits were Greater Manchester Council.

Have we seriously lost our core values about us all being Bears and we all stick together, through thick or thin, in the right or in the wrong.

Obviously not. Too many do-gooders. It sickens me more than the rioters If I'm being brutally honest.

I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but it's how I feel. Some of the people on here sticking the boot in - we have enough mates in the media and the East End to do that for us without you's.

If sticking together means defending the indefensible then we, as a support, need to have a good look at ourselves. Manchester is one of the major contributing factors as to why we have such a horrendous image as a support. People going on about the brutality of the Manchester Police are completely missing the point because we, as a support base, were ALL tried and convicted in the court of public opinion.

These guys that got jailed contributed to our image and have little sympathy from me (other than some of the sentences are a bit harsh).

A word to the wise.

You'll Ripe what you sow apparently. I must have missed that particular lesson in the Special Needs Class.

Ok, I'm getting a bit concerned about what is going on here. What makes the guy a Celtic fan? I have not seen one pro-Celtic statement yet. Ok, you disagree with him, good, I disagree with some of his comments, but what I see here is getting a bit nasty. He has his opinion, and I Know none of you like it, but you are all going to have to deal with that. You think he is the only Rangers fan who holds this view? And spare us the sob stories about those that did do damage as well. My concern is first and last the CLUB, the club being used by its enemies because many can't take responsibility for their actions, whether that is thugs, the organisers, or the police and stewards. he has his opinions, but I'm not going to stand by and watch you lot round on him for having his opinions. And before you start, I am a Rangers fan as well.

Most sensible thing in this topic.

I don't mean to take you out of context, but I think it's you that's "completely missing the point"

We get a raw deal as it is, so who cares if we were "all tried and convicted" I don't.

PS - it's not defending the indefensible, as you put it. That's the whole point the majority of the people on this thread are making, beacuse there were excuses and reasons for what happened. Not that it makes it right.

It's all good and well having opinions, it's the way you express those opinions that matters, is it not?

I would suggest the way he expresses his opinions needs work, would you not agree?

Tell Bear, and whoever else, you don't agree with what they do, or did, but to go calling fellow bears SCUM, KNUCKLEDRAGGERS etc... is befitting that of a bheast, you just don't do it, no matter what they have done.

From what I have seen over the last 48 hours gfg seems to relish calling 'fellow' fans names when he has ran out of things to say, maybe he should just stop posting when he does, he does himself no favours at all.

Ok, I see what you are saying, but how can you justify this:

Why dont you deal with the fact we have scum that follows us and causes trouble?

As far as I am concerned, and hopefully admin will agree, that is a totally intolerable statement to make on here.

In case you haven't noticed, the club or to be more precise the custodians of our great club, do not give a toss about you or any other fans, they appear to see us being shit on from a great height, as quite acceptable. Smell the Gloves.

Weren't you going on about ready made excuses earlier in the thread? I think, in the case of Manchester, we have to accept some responsibility and stop passing the buck.

'We get a raw deal as it is, so who cares if we were "all tried and convicted" I don't.'

Seriously, why not?

Very strange that you do mention this when other people are insulting me? Any reason for this?

The only embarressing thing on here is the level of support from RM towards hooligans.

I believe in post #290, I quite simply highlighted your dishing out of abuse, based solely on the fact that YOU are taking exception to someone. The person you were directing it at, has acted in a far more civilised, classy manner than you seem capable of. Must be sickening for you given he is a "hooligan" eh?

Again, point well and truly missed.

It's not a case of ready made excuses. We are trying to get to the bottom of what happened. We are carrying out our own little inquiry, if you will.

No-one is not accepting responsibility. How many times do the majority in this thread have to explain to the minority that we are not condoning what these people did?

All we are trying to say is that we are all Bears. We are meant to stick together, not sinking the boot further into them when every man and their dog from outside the Rangers family are doing that as it is.

It's a bit idealistic what I'm saying but c'mon - some of the comments wouldn't be out of place on Kerrydale Street.

You think he is the only Rangers fan of that view. 'scum', 'Knuckledraggers? So what? He has his opinion. How many against one is it between you and him? That is not on in my book. And all because he condemns the ones throwing bottles and kicking police officers? My concern- first, last, and in the middle -is the Club, and those fans who didn't kick police officers, who didn't throw bottles, but who went to see their Club in a European Final but ended up being caught in the middle and being baton hit by police as well. There'll be no sob stories for the people who did wrong from me.

Its a great post mate, I need to highlight something, so I did.

The answer to that is, on the internet, it seems some have. The "do-gooders" as you call them arent that, they are looking not to do good for the club, or the support, but, for those who prefer to hurt it. Its quite sad, but, these days, anyone can be anyone behind the keyboard, and, nobody really knows

That's the thing about it.

Bear has not given him any shit yet gfg seems to have taken greater offence at this 'scum' having some sort of education and indeed as you say being civilised.

Who says we support them?

We do understand they are there, why they were 'formed' and do you know what, they probably will be there, stopping the likes of you or me getting your, my, cunt kicked in by some wanky scumbag, without batting an eye lid, I doubt you would do the same for them or indeed A N other Rangers fan.

You might want to open your eyes, look at the posts and stop being such a bheast with your comments, you have offered no decent response to the threads I have seen you post in on here.

Thats the truth!

Thing is, this "person", seems to be of the opinion that, if we dont think their sentences are really really lenient, then, we support them

tragic realy

Makes you wonder doesnt it?

I tend to judge others by their actions, not what they say they are/believe

Our own little inquiry? What a futile waste of time that will be. The bottom line is our image is what it is largely because of Manchester, the public perception of our support base is not going to change regarding Manchester. With the convictions the other day we need a to draw a line under it and move on so we can try and improve our repuation. Bluster, deflect and tell me I'm missing the point all you want but the harm these guys did to our reputation will be hard to repair, which is why I find it hard to sympathise with them.

P.S. I have absolutely no idea what would and wouldn't look out of place on Kerrydale Street.

Evening young man, um? Define that highlighted bit?

Do you mean, on Rangers boards? Scottish press? Or, much Like Alex Ferguson and Dave Whelan have said recently ;)
