Is Murray Park no longer a red herring?

Was built to pamper the Dutch and is a joke when it comes to bringing on youngsters . We had far better younger stars come through without it

It was built because we needed it. We were jumping from place to place and it was embarrassing truth be told.

Advocaat and his pampered stars needed it and Murray gave in to him again and is also one of the reasons we got into the mess we did and at the time we were told it was going to be used to bring on better youngsters , which it NEVER has done since it has been opened , but i do agree they needed somewhere

Beasley - PCL injuryThomson - ACL injuryNaismith - ACL injuryEdu - medial ligament injuryWe've not really been cleared of knee troubles

All sustained from poor challenges during games, can't really blame the training facilities.

It's too soon to "project" that we are starting to see the "results" of our youth developmetn just because a few of them are on the fringes of the first team squad.

Five/six years ago everybody thought guys like McGregor, Hutton, Adam, Smith, MacKenzie, Leven, McCormack, Burke & Lennon would make up the back bone of the Rangers team for years to come.

How many of them actually made it with us? McGregor, Hutton and maybe Adam and Burke at a push.

Don't remember these two lads. What happened to them?

Peter Leven left us and joined Killie on a free before moving onto Chesterfield. I think he was their captain at one point? Before he moved onto current club MK Dons.

Gary MacKenzie is also at MK Dons, he joined Dundee after leaving us when Alex Rae took charge there.

The furore about how few young players we brought/bring through is OTT guff

Name another club with expectations as big as ours who bring through more young players than we do?

And youngsters signed from another club don't count, so Arsenal can gtf

Apparently Ness, Wylde, Hutton and Darren Cole were all singings by George Adams, the old head of youth and the lads that Sinclair has brought in are just big strong lads who are not good footballers? All though, it was a guy who's son got released from Rangers told me that.

Worst mistake ever getting rid of this guy.

From wiki:

George Adams (born in 1950 or 1951)[1] is a Scottish football former player who is currently director of football at Ross County. He is the father of Derek Adams, who managed Ross County from 2007 to 2010.

While he was a player, Adams was Alex Ferguson's first signing as a manager, moving to East Stirlingshire from Alloa Athletic in 1974.[2][3] His playing career was disrupted by injury, and he became a manager in the Highland Football League at a young age.[3]

Adams later worked for Alex Ferguson as a youth coach at Aberdeen.[3] He was later credited by Rangers chairman John F. McClelland for bringing through many of the players who enjoyed great success with Aberdeen during the 1980s.[4] Adams subsequently worked in youth development for Celtic and Motherwell.[5]

Adams left Motherwell in 2003 to become director of youth football at Rangers.[4] He left Rangers in September 2005 after being offered a different post as part of a restructuring exercise at the club.[6] Adams blamed a personality clash with chief executive Martin Bain as the reason for his departure.[6]

Later in 2005, Adams joined Ross County as director of football.[6] In 2007, Adams appointed his son (Derek Adams) as Ross County manager.[7] The father and son pairing guided Ross County to the 2010 Scottish Cup Final, recording upset victories over Hibernian and Celtic en route.[1][5] The pairing were split when Adams left Ross County to become assistant manager to Colin Calderwood at Hibernian.[3]

The amount of quality players this guy has been involved in is amazing

Before Murray Park was constructed, we had to go through the ignominy of having our players, to all extents and purposes, drive through Glasgow looking for a spare piece of grassland on which to practice. As for the youth development side of things, we've done reasonably well. It's no La Masia, but what is? Even in the EPL, few sides have managed to ensure successful and consistent youth development. Frank Arnesen received a shitload of criticism at Chelsea for the apparent failure to produce fruits from his labours, in spite of the millions spent.

It's annoying when people are expecting so many great young talents to come out of Murray Park because in truth a lot of young lads don't want to go to the us or the tims because they know their chances of playing are going to be slim. No wonder teams like Hamilton and Hearts are leading the way for the next generation of footballers.

Aye its alright if these boys are playing at youth level for us but they aren't getting first team football, they haven't been properly tested yet. Plus most of the better young players from hearts etc. Are playing in the first team now.
