Most expensive defenders

1 - Rio Ferdinand £33.1m

(Leeds United to Manchester United, 2002)

2 - Fabio Coentrao £27m

(Benfica to Real Madrid, 2011)

3 - Pepe £25m

(Porto to Real Madrid, 2007)

4 - Daniel Alves £23.5m

(Sevilla to Barcelona, 2008)

5 - Dmytro Chygrynskiy £22.5m

(Shakhtar Donetsk to Barcelona, 2009)

That last one is amazing, I don't think I have ever heard of him before?

There was talk of him being "the new Vidic" but I just didn't seem to work for him at Barca.

He went back to Shaktar after one season.

I'm sure Barca lost about 8 million euros when he left & he isn't even in the Ukraine squad for the Euros.

What was Pep thinking?

That is mental.

How can you get it so wrong about a player!

Mind you Barca have been guilty of some crazy transfers in the past.

AC Milan have turned down a world record offer for a defender from Paris St-Germain for Thiago Silva.

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi says the cash-rich Ligue 1 side made a bid of nearly €46m (£37.5m) for the 27-year-old Brazil international centre-back.

WOWZERS!!!

Edit: Just seen somebody else talk about this transfer, aw'well

M'Vila has said he knows where he will be playing next season before he goes on his holidays. Said he knows where he's going to sign or something to that effect.

I'm thinking it is Arsenal
