Truth, reconciliation, proportion and reparation

From this week's bitter-sweet result on the FTTT, a number of different issues come to the fore. There are standards of journalism, and expectations of administrators that have not been upheld in anything like the manner in which they should be expected, but the resulting actions should be completely different (although the cause is the same).

The cause of everything is the infamous BTC and the pre-supposition of Rangers guilt (let's just call it the 'fantasy'). This is effectively the lens through which everything that has happened to us has been seen. Remove the lens, and the story changes dramatically as we have seen.

To those journalists who have been gullible enough to fall for the fantasy, they are likely to fade away, talk about other things and pretend that nothing has happened. To be honest, they are part of the mob, too stupid to understand the story and not the primary targets. They should certainly be taken to task for what has happened, and what they have said, but I would give them the opportunity to take on a Traynor-style approach, and just let them follow a different pack. They may be stupid, but they are not pointless, they are the mob, and they carry the impetus. Their agenda and received truth must be OUR truth. (it just so happens to be the actual truth).

The second ones, those who perpetuated the fantasy, they should be exposed (as Spiers has been) for the lies they have maliciously spread, and they need to be marginalised by the very mob that they created. Notice how quickly the world seems to have turned against 'internet bloggers and failed lawyers' who a few weeks ago were lauded.

There should be a special approach taken with regards to the BBC. This is an organisation that we are legally forced to pay for, and who are held to a higher standard than all others. There needs to be an inquiry into the approach taken on their news and sports shows, why the argument has only ever been one-sided and why the truth was not the primary concern. A microscope should be applied to Mark Daly, as a serious investigative journalist (as he purports to be) cannot be allowed to claim in one breath to be the man who we should have listened to when he exposed Craig Whyte, and in the next breath claim that he only ever presented the information on the FTTT, but didn't make any claims. You are one or the other Mr. Daly, pick a side, crusading investigative journalist fearlessly exposing the truth, or photocopier.

The journalists there are the ones who magnify the lens, the authorities are the people who have acted, and punished the club.

For the crime of going into administration for not paying PAYE (as far as I can tell the primary cause of administration within football) we were stated to have commited an act which was second only to match-fixing, and that may demand expulsion from the SFA. The SFA have already told us that the punishment was not related to the FTTT, the fact is that this is officially true, it is legally true, and it is demonstrably true in their written judgement. The reality is that they believed we were guilty of cheating, and wanted to get tough with us. Take away the fantasy, and the disproportion of that punishment is even more blatantly obvious than people have seen previously.

Take the SPL and the clubs' decision to expel us from the league. Why did this happen? Because they allowed their fans to vote on it, and why did the fans vote to expel us? Because they believed the fantasy.

The existence of the multi party 'agreement' that would have us punished for crimes we did not commit is evidence enough that the fantasy had taken hold and was believed beyond any doubt.

The games administrators need to be above the mob, above the witch-hunt, and they need to seek out the truth. They have demonstrably failed.

There is no way to fix this now, unless anyone has a Tardis. And my only suggestion would be to establish an over-arching, independent inquiry. This inquiry will not report to the SFA, or the SPL or any other body which has something to hide.

I have an expectation that the result should be:

1) Rangers deserved a fine for bringing the game into disrepute by deliberate non-payment of PAYE/NI.

2) Craig Whyte deserved a fine for bringing the game into disrepute by falsely declaring himself a Fit and Proper Person.

3) The Transfer Embargo should be immediately lifted.

4) The SFA should be censured for attempting to impose this unlawful punishment, and insisting on seeing it through.

5) Rangers league status should be reviewed as to which division they should be playing in, as the decision to eject us from the SPL was flawed.

6) The Chief Executives of the SFA and SPL should be suspended immediately for blackmailing Rangers into accepting such punishments as a condition of membership.

7) The SFA should be investigated as to their actions in blackmailing and threatening member clubs within the SFL.

By way of reparations to Rangers for this.

1) All prize money for the 2011/2012 season should be returned to the oldco to assist in paying off debt.

2) All transfer fees should equally be released to the oldco for this purpose, unless these assets were transferred to the newco, in which case the transfer fees should be put there.

3) The SFA should make representations to UEFA to express that should Rangers become eligible through competition to play in Europe that UEFA should make Rangers an exceptional case and support our early accession to their competitions.

There is a tiny window at the moment, where people could throw us an olive branch and try to find a realistic way of working this through with some hint of natural justice. If they cannot do that, then the alternative will be small people hiding behind someone else's lies, denying everything and anything, and the continued complete collapse of Scottish football.

The fantasy is dead, bring on the truth.

the idea of a Tardis is brilliant.

if you can put in a good word with Dr. Who to have me go back in time so i can give thimson, speirs, daly. magobillygook, liewell, and reid a right good kick in the fucking teeth before they puked their bile i'd appreciate it!

however, if communications with the Doc are dodgy, wid it be too much to ask for a sub clause or even an asterisk in your 'By Way of Reparations' section for this nemesis and cathartic act?

My lists are by no means exhaustive, and everyone should feel free to add to them as appropriate.

Too sensible and far too much joined up thinking for our poisonous little backwater of country to consider.

The thing that shocked through all of this is we heard nothing from the SFA or the SPL when we went into admin nor since the verdict was announced. The only time they say anything is to issue or justify punishment.

I don't understand why they have not issued a single statement, they likely have and it was no comment :(
