RangersStandard Book - Follow We Will

Really looking forward to reading the book . Should come tomorrow from Amazon. Must say that I am getting a bit disillusioned by all the bickering and point scoring on the forum, particularly as we are all Rangers fans together who want the same outcomes for our great club. Or do we?

On another note, I have 110 Rangers books in my collection. Have been collecting them since I was a wee boy living in Plantation. My first book was Rangers The New Era and I was truly fascinated by our fantastic history and loved all the statistics at the back of the book. I dip in to it every now and then because it really gives me a great sense of our history and what a fantastic club we are . I hope I enjoy this new book about our New Era as much.

Was it middle of the road hand wringing or was there a good proportion calling a spade a spade?

Only hand-wringing I see is those desperate to find fault with the book's finances, those wanting to explore one of the editor's personal/business background and others concerned at the wide selection of chapter contributors.

Obviously I did expect this from Celtic fans but I'm happy to admit I'm surprised to see a few fellow bears on RM eager to throw whatever mud they can at this book to see what sticks.

Hope it comes soon for you mate. As posted earlier (but lost amongst the off-topic nonsense) we're experiencing a few delays with Amazon and Waterstones.

However, a very large second print run is currently being processed so we're expecting stock levels to significantly improve over the coming days. We really are delighted with the overall response even if a very small minority are keen to derail this worthy project for their own bizarre reasons.

It's funny you mention that Frankie. The tactics are identical. It's absolutely pathetic.

It's that deep rooted, unfortunate Scottish trait where those afflicted with it maul and belittle others who achieve things that they never will - especially their own. Makes them feel better with themselves. Go figure......

I certainly can't explain it but just to be clear we're no better than anyone else for putting together a wee book.

It's only ever been a small project to try and give some well-written fans the chance to ensure 'our' voice is heard amidst the inaccuracy and mischief-making in the media. No matter who's involved (or not) I really thought it would be something we could all buy into; even in a small part. But, no, some (and luckily it is only a vocal few) are incessant in their negativity.

Thankfully the vast majority are seeing past that and appear happy to make up their own mind as to the book's merits by buying it. That's all we ask and we'll happily defend its position from those genuine in their criticism.

It is really impressive and I'd love to see where the lad keeps them.

Recently my old Gran was having a clear-out and she found dozens of old Rangers News' from the 1980s onwards which my Grandad had kept in the loft alongside other sports magazines and newspapers. Unfortunately, most were ruined with damp but I managed to save a few - unfortunately a couple with Mo Johnston on the cover - but am struggling to even find room for them.

Just goes to show how important it is to document our history; more so from the supporters' perspective.

Don't know if you're on Twitter but if you are then give @RangersFacts a follow. Fantastic blog and regular fascinating tweets about our history. Garry writes for us at TRS occasionally and everything he's done has been brilliant.

Yeah, luckily the electronic orders are unaffected by delays but the paperback copies are only arriving slowly which is a frustration.

Good news is that the 'official' launch isn't until a week on Monday anyway so the extra publicity from that will help maintain interest in the various platforms.

Agreed. His stuff is truly brilliant and quite unique in its style. Amazing the stuff he finds out and along with the other guys interested in the club's heritage it's vital we support their work in whatever way we can.

Agreed! My wife has one but I much prefer something tangible to hold onto in our bed. #kennethwilliamsemoticongoeshere

Got it ordered last night on kindle, and it was there in.........oh, seconds. These guys don't half type fast.

Excellent so far, but making my blood boil too.

Most points raised so far are exactly how I felt at the time, and still do.

frankly frankie, you can't take a point of view that goes against yours.......The fact that all the co authors are buddies leads to the question, will they be telling the same viewpoint as opposed to say.........some other blogger having an input that may shed a viewpoint outwith the guys that tend to be friends.

Go back over my posts I put questions that many would ask.......eg is it not strange to have one of the co authors acting as editor, in that he will be reading others work and have his own set thoughts on the subject matter as he is as mentioned a co author.

Also the Uni Prof............I was rebuffed in that, this guy is a specialist.........well I asked if he was privvy to information re our old Ltd Co and was he involved in the actual administration process or merely passing a personal opinion.............was he a friendly voice, that was the point I was making.

Re this shit about friends, he mentioned that Kinnon was a friend re the business scenario I merely picked that up from other posters. But once again frankie you come riding to the rescue...................why did you not ride to the rescue when this particular individual tears into posters s tims, arch idiots and have mental problems and they must be going through a breakdown.................noticeable by your absence there frankie

You and your buddy come on and punt your sales pitches.........no problem with that, but when challenged you do take the childish stance, go read my posts to your buddy nd then tell me , are they not vlid points and if not give me your reasons.

It's a forum for god sake and if you can't get your head round that your not flavour of the month with certain topics then man up and take it.

I await your response to your wounded frien who seems hurt and to your answer re his tantrums re name calling.

Will check it out. Well Fury ,how do you think the new season will pan out for us.?Personally I am really looking forward to it and I hope Ally turns things around from last season. I think we have a squad that would do well in the premier league although not good enough to win it. Lets hope that we get entertained this season.
