Official: Boyd signs one year deal

Short term we need to get back to to the highest position we can in order to get the benefit longer term, Boyd will strengthen our position towards achieving that.

The longer we act like a midtable club building for the long term the more likely we are to become a midtable club.

Agreed. Ally fucked the 3 years of rebuilding our club in a sustainable manner, might as well just get the best players we can for the shortterm.

Once Ally gets binned for failing to get us promoted, or performing poorly in the top league, hopefully we get someone in with a bit of vision.

Learn what? How to rot on the bench? These young lads don't want to sit on the bench they want to play football. If they can't do that at Rangers they'll find a club who will.

Every player wants to play and not sit on the bench, they will learn by training with these guys everyday - understand the wee things that make you a good player - watching them from the bench must be a motivator - if they are interested in being a footballer in Scotland then there is no better a role model than Miller imo, and Boyd (if he signs) will teach them lessons on how to read a game to get on the end of one.

or OK - chase your money and football with winfuckall Utd and learn how to be mediocre.

These young lads want it too quick and that is ALWAYS their undoing. Some give up the fight too easily.

Thanks for throwing down some sunshine on my post.

No problem bud.

I've come around to the thinking that Ally isn't going anywhere for a while, and as such he'll continue in a very shortterm mindset. Might as well take a TWB or BP9 view and just embrace it.

i thought Daly got a 2 year contract with the option of a 3rd year. Can't see anyone else offering Daly the money we're paying him. We're stuck with him.

3rd year option works both ways, we don't have to offer him a contract extension, at the end of the day we are only obligated for the 2 years of his contract.

Can't believe people use this to slag Ally off and talk about lack of vision, it's been clear to me over the last couple of seasons that Ally must have had instructions to get us to the top flight as quickly as possible, well like it or lump it that is what he is doing.

Yeah it would be brilliant if he could fill the team with emerging talent and take that risk but if they didn't deliver the goods the fanbase would be onto their back quicker than some of the typical posts on here.

As for Boyd signing, if this is true, then he would help that final promotion push and he would also help us hit the ground running in the top flight.

That is what CG announced was the intention. Remember that Paul Murray praised the success of the IPO and said that his plan would have seen Rangers take 10 years to rebuild.

Ally was given one job, get the club back to the top league ASAP and the board/investors backed that plan. It's the crap over the last year that put that in doubt and where we find ourselves now, like it or not that was the plan and in 2 more seasons we will hopefully be back in Europe.
