Selby showed tonight why he's world number one. Ding Junhui played well but it just wasn't his year.

Looks like Selby missing the Players Championship and the China Open helped him out a lot at this year's worlds.

A good tournament overall, IMO.

Thought I'd resurrect this, since our very own bluenose Graeme Dott seems to be returning to form :rangers:Just beat Ali Carter to reach the quarter finals for the first time since 2011.

EDIT: Thought it was the second round  He's not in the QF yet.

The guy's behaviour is plainly that of a narcissistic, delusional wanker. That said, he's mentally ill and his wankerishness doesn't really do any harm in his cloistered little world, so let him be, I say. It must be annoying for those in the game to have to put up with his mood swings, right enough.

Ding 10 O'Sullivan 6

Ding only 3 frames away from the semi final and sending Ronnie back to the Priory.

Didn't realise how good that wee kitchen sink was at scoring. Every time he gets in he looks like winning the frame.

Looking at Ding's record against top 16 players on his wikipedia page, he has a winning head-to-head against every top player except Ronnie, Murphy, Selby and Bingham, and his record against those isn't awful except vs Ronnie. Looking at that, his Crucible record really has been quite poor until last year. Wonder if today will give him some bottle.

Think the commentators said that's Dings first win over Ronnie in a major tournament.

How did Hawkins and the tarrier finish?
