govanblue 16,847
Rangers Youth Development Award Meet Joshua Burns Adair... Born with a rare genetic disorder (Jeunes Thoracic Dystrophy Syndrome, a disorder which stops an unborn baby's ribcage from growing, meaning the lungs and heart etc have nowhere to grow into. You can imagine how terminally serious that would be. Few affected by it survive birth, even fewer survive infancy and only a handful reach 5 years old.) Against the odds, and with the aid of a lot of specialist care from Great Ormond Street's Finest (including operations every year or so to expand his ribcage) he'll be five next month... Sadly, Great Ormond Street Hospital have told him that there's not much more they can do, down to NHS budgetary restraints etc, and he shouldn't expect more than a couple of years at most. Bummer, eh? There is however, a centre of excellence on this type of disorder, in Seattle Hospital, which could probably extend that prognosis considerably, maybe even in to his teens. That might not sound like much, but compared to the other option, it's a lifetime! But as you all know, going to America for specialist treatment is never cheap. So his Dad is trying to raise some money to pay for this... https://www.gofundme.com/joshuaburnsadair# And he asked for a bit of support on this forum (and also on followfollow)... http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?/topic/295124-my-wee-teddy-bear/&page=1 It's a lot of money, and more than we could possibly raise on here. But at the very least, we can make a start on it, and give his webpage a bit of respectability... Quite a few Fund Members made donations, so with that in mind, The Fund has also made a donation of £100 towards it. As far as I can see, this is Rangers Youth Development, and so qualifies for a Fund Award. I would encourage anyone who hasn't already, to consider making a donation (big or small) towards this young Bear's bright future. But more importantly, to try to raise awareness in any small way you can (retweets, facebooks, likes, mentioning it to your RSC, mentioning it to your work's charity rep, tweeting Jim Hannah (that might be a good avenue to try!) - anything you can do to spread the message beyond this small online community would be a big help. govanblue 16,847
Quote THE Rangers Youth Development Company have launched a membership scheme for supporters to invest in the Light Blues’ Academy structure at Auchenhowie. More than £7million has been directed to Murray Park from the RYDC in the last 15 years and Director of Operations Colin Stewart handed over £175,000 to Youth chief Craig Mulholland earlier this year. Fans who sign up to the Youth Members Club will receive a range of benefits, including meet and greet sessions and exclusive competitions, and Stewart said: “We are delighted to launch the Rangers Youth Members Club and I am sure this exciting new offer will appeal to supporters of all ages. “The Rangers Youth Development Company has gone from strength to strength in 2015/16. I would like to thank the many fans who have given us their unwavering support for a number of years and also pay tribute to our worldwide fan base for continuing to back us in great numbers. “Much has been achieved this season but it would not be possible without our supporters who have played Rangers Lotto or bought Stadium Bricks, Rising Stars tickets or Scratchcards. The Rangers Youth Members Club is our next exciting new product and I am confident it will be successful.” As firm supporters of Rangers Bricks, Rangers Lotto and Rangers Rising Stars, it goes without saying that we'll be keen to support their exciting new product If only we knew some youths who would want to be a part of such a scheme. govanblue 16,847
And now on to Cup Final Ticket Shenanigans... We had the opportunity to purchase 6 tickets, which I did. - £174 2 tickets (1 adult & child) have been donated free to a Loyal Fund Member, as fulfilment of a long-standing debt. The other 4 have been sold on to a couple of Loyal Fund Members (at face value obviously. ) as a thank you for their continued support. So no money being made here, just another wee bit of Fund-Member Benefits. We'll recoup £120 of that money soon enough, and the other £56 will be more than compensated by an excellent unsolicited donation which is on its way. govanblue 16,847
And now on to medals... 9 medals collected yesterday, and 15 paid for and getting posted out tomorrow, gives us another £72 in Medal Booking Fees. govanblue 16,847
And I've now set aside the Medals which have been donated to our Erskine Veterans by our Loyal Fund Members. Many thanks to: As I Was Walking…. Darius 72 j1mgg Keeps01 The Beast The Beast (again!) VERITAS VOS LIBREBETS That's 7 medals donated. Ideally, it would be great if we could end up with enough donated medals to give one each to all the Loyal Erskine Bears who attended last season (and the seasons before). I'm not sure how many that is. Probably about 16 or so. So if you fancy helping out with that, just let me know. Remember that if you donate a medal to a Veteran, you are exempt from the Erskine Booking Fee (£3 per medal) on all medals purchased. You can order your medals here... http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?/topic/294002-collect-your-champ-div3-div1-and-barca-medals-on-cup-final-day/

A Massive Thank You to Loyal Fund Member Hairy Rz, who has just donated £106 to pay for 10 Medals (plus paypal fee!) I reckon Young Joshua and his brother probably deserve a medal, so I'll send a couple to them, and that leaves us with 8 more medals for Erskine Veterans, plus the 7 already bought, gives us 15 for Erskine. I think that will be enough to cover all of our regular Erskine Ibrox-Loyal Veterans, but if not, I'll be sure to let you all know. While that would be pretty cool, it's not the only way. The way I see it, four things would need to happen... 1. The ordinary fans need to do as much as they can themselves, right now, so that the Club can't help but notice. 2. The Club, and its staff need to get involved, lend their support, retweets, photo-ops etc. They'll probably only do that if enough of us pester enough of them often enough. 3. The print and broadcast media need to see enough of a new news story in it to give it some exposure. 4. As a result of that exposure, various groups and individuals all over the country will hopefully become motivated enough to organise their own fundraising activities to support it. Get to that level, and you can multiply what's been raised so far by at least a hundred. Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to list those aims than it is to achieve them!
