Neil Lennon: Hibernian agree deal to appoint former Celtic boss

Neil Lennon and Garry Parker could be Hibs' new management team

Neil Lennon has agreed a deal to become the next Hibernian manager and should formally sign a contract on Wednesday.

The former Celtic boss has been out of work since parting company with Bolton in March but will succeed Alan Stubbs.

Stubbs left for Rotherham United last week after two seasons in charge and having just won the Scottish Cup.

Lennon is believed to want Garry Parker as his number two at Hibs, who missed out on promotion to the Premiership after a play-off defeat by Falkirk.

The pair played together at Leicester City and Lennon had Parker as part of his coaching team at Celtic and Bolton Wanderers.

Former Northern Ireland midfielder Lennon, who won the League Cup twice as a player with Leicester, served Celtic as a player for six-and-a-half years, winning five Scottish titles and six domestic cups.

After a spell back in English football, Lennon rejoined Celtic as a coach in 2008 and eventually became manager in 2010.

He enjoyed further success in the dugout at Celtic Park with three successive top-flight titles and two Scottish Cup triumphs before leaving in 2014.

A move to Bolton followed later that year and, although Wanderers initially improved under Lennon, they were bottom of the Championship by the time he left in March, with the side eventually relegated.

Hibs have spent the last two seasons in Scotland's second tier, having also lost out in the promotion play-offs in 2015.

However, having ended their 114-year wait to win the Scottish Cup, the Edinburgh club will enter the Europa League qualifying rounds, with their first match on 14 July.

On Sunday, Stubbs told BBC Scotland he thought that Lennon, his former Celtic team-mate, would be a "a good choice" for the Easter Road vacancy.

Falkirk dead certs for the championship next season.

The only time he won the SPL worth note was when we were on our knees with a clown of a manager in charge and a criminal in the boardroom.

And even then he was 15 points behind at one point :belm:

This definitely means that the spoon burning cunts will definately not face any punishments. I hope to fuck he spends all their money and they achieve fuck all and go bust and no fucker helps them. They must be fucking desperate to want some one who got a team relegated from the english championship. Its a pay day for yellow fangs

Baffled by his thinking on this. Its a potential career ender for him. If they fail to get promoted, where does he go from there? If they do get promoted, hes in the SPL with Hibs haha. He must be viewing this as a stepping stone back to England.

Just glad we dont have to cross paths with the cunt, depending on cup draws.

It's a shame that, just as there was a bit of positivity building up in Scottish football with Rangers being back in the top league, this horrible little cunt is back to disgrace the country and bully referees.

How accurate the above is. Only Celtic or Hibs could appoint this poisonous individual
