I don't see an issue with it personally. He wasn't allowed to be near the club for 2 weeks so if he gets the option to do other things during that period of time then, as long as he's not breaking any rules, he should be free to do so. Barton worked in the media as a pundit before he came to us. I doubt Rangers would've written up a contract that meant he couldn't continue that work for the next 2 years he was with us. Of course. That's why I said as long as he's not breaking any rules then he's free to do as he likes. That suggests that he perhaps was continuing his pattern of behaviour under the English rules (which I understand are more lenient) and nobody told him (or he didn't listen) about the more stringent requirements in Scotland. The club really could do more to make its staff aware of these rules, particularly when they've joined from a league that has a different system.
