Patrick McGuire, of Thompsons Solicitors, is representing some of McCafferty's victims in civil cases.

He called for action from celtic Football Club.

"McCafferty's connection with celtic is now utterly undeniable," he said.

"We now know that some of the abuse took place in celtic premises. What he did was groom the boys but at the same time groom the parents, always with celtic dangling on the end of a stick as a golden carrot. It's just utterly unforgivable.

"McCafferty's conviction is probably the last conviction that we'll see in a celtic setting. But what's never happened is any form of financial justice for the survivors of abuse at celtic Park and that's why now all eyes are on the board of celtic Football Club to do the right thing."

Neil Strachan:  Convicted and imprisoned in 1997 and 2009 for historical child abuse on a horrific scale.  Strachan was Secretary of celtic Boys Club in Edinburgh.

 

John Cullen:  Official celtic FC photographer charged and convicted of lewd and libidinous behaviour after photos of young boys were found stored in a cupboard at celtic Park.  Cullen worked at celtic for more than 20 years and the offences spanned from 1982 until 2002.

 

Gerald King: Former chairman of celtic Boys Club convicted in 2018 with historical sexual abuse offences.   King was involved with the Boys Club for many years.   He also used to work for Torbett.  Charges relate to a period between 1983 and 1989.

 

Frank Cairney:  celtic Boys Club chairman replaced Torbett and was involved with Torbett returning to the Boys Club.  Resigned in 1991 after accusations on a US tour with the Boys Club.   Convicted in 2018 with numerous counts of historical sexual abuse.

 My recollection is that there was a SFA investigation into abuse in scottish football

but part of it was held back until all the court case were finished. Anyone know about this?

Jim McCafferty, 73, was a coach and kit man for the celtic youth team who also worked for celtic Boys Club.

He was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison. He was already serving a jail term for abuse. ...

Last November celtic Boys Club founder Jim Tobett was jailed for six years for sexually abusing three boys over eight years.

Earlier this year, the boys club's former chairman, Gerald King, was given a three-year probation order for sexually abusing four boys and a girl in the 1980s.

And in February Frank Cairney, a former manager of the boys club, was jailed for four years after being convicted of nine charges of sexually abusing young footballers.

Seems pretty lenient in all cases. Don't know what Cullen and Strachan got.

Cullen avoided a lengthy jail sentence and was placed on probation for three years at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday after he pled guilty to a charge of lewd and libidinous behaviour.

Strachan, who attempted to rape an 18-month-old boy and assaulted a six-year-old, was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years.

Torbett got 2 years then this - celtic Boys Club founder Jim Torbett has been jailed for six years after being convicted of sexually abusing three boys over an eight-year period.

Frank Cairney a former manager of celtic Boys Club has been jailed for four years after being convicted of nine charges of sexually abusing young footballers.

A FORMER celtic Boys Club chairman convicted of sexually abusing four boys and a girl while he was employed as a teacher has been spared jail.Gerald King, 66, taught and coached football at a primary school in the north of Glasgow during the 1980s.
