POLICE in the United States are investigating an alleged sex attack on a celtic Boys Club player during a trip led by paedo coach Frank Cairney.

Detectives have launched a probe this week after receiving fresh information about the celtic Boys Club’s tour in America in 1991.

Serial beast Cairney, 84, was jailed in February for preying on eight boys in his care in the 1980s.

He led a group of 20 youngsters to New Jersey in the summer of 1991 to mark 25 years of the celtic Boys Club.

And it’s emerged cops in the US state are now looking into claims of an alleged sex attack during the trip, The Times reports.

celtic 'haven't contacted Boys Club abuse victims since launching 2-year probe'

Former celtic chairman Jack McGinn admitted he was told that Cairney had abused a teenager on a tour to New Jersey in 1991 - 30 years before he was nailed for his crimes.

It promoted Mr McGinn to call a meeting at Parkhead where he accepted Cairney's resignation.

He claims he urged Boys Club officials to alert police but they did not, allowing Cairney to walk free, while "pressure at work" was cited as the reason for his departure.

George King, chief of police for Kearny, New Jersey, said: “The Kearny police department detective bureau is reviewing this information and is in consultation with the Hudson County prosecutors office.”

We told in February how celtic face being sued in America amid claims Cairney abused kids on footie trips.

Cairney was convicted of sickening attacks on young boys while running St Columba's Boys Guild in Viewpark, Lanarkshire, and the under-16 team at celtic BC.

Cairney is one of four paedophiles to be exposed for abusing kids at celtic Boys Club.

Founder Jim Torbett, 71, was jailed for a second time over the abuse of young players in November last year.

Jim McCafferty admitted preying on ten teenage boys between 1972 and 1996.

Former chairman Gerald King, 66, was also convicted earlier this year.

celtic has been conducting an internal investigation into abuse at the Boys Club for two years.

I wonder if the Kearny police department will lead the investigation into the CFC 6 to determine if there was an organised peado ring being run. I believe it is important to establish whether or not it was organised as this will determine if CFC were covering up crimes for individuals or for a paedo organisation.

The former player has told how his life became a living hell after being abused by Frank Cairney as he rubbished claims the Parkhead club and youth side were separate entities.

A victim of evil celtic Boys Club paedophile Frank Cairney has told how celtic FC coaches took training sessions for the youngsters at Parkhead.

It comes after Cairney, 84, lost his latest bid for release from jail ahead of an appeal against convictions for sexually abusing eight young boys over a 20-year period.

The victim bravely came forward to speak amid claims by celtic FC that the boys club was a totally separate organisation – and they don’t need to accept responsibility for abuse carried out at the youngsters’ team.

The victim said: “Cairney got four years. I got a life sentence from the age of 15. I’ll take it to the grave with me.

“I saw him at the trial for the first time in decades. Now, I wake up five times a night with that image of his evil face sitting there with the headphones on.”

The victim – who gave evidence against Cairney at his trial – has rubbished claims by celtic FC that it and celtic Boys’ Club were separate entities.

He said: “We were at celtic Park, we used the home dressing rooms, we were coached on the celtic Park pitch and it was celtic coaches who took training.

“For anyone to claim that these are separate entities is a travesty of the truth.

“Everyone knew that celtic Boys’ Club was the youth division of the club.

“We wore the celtic kit and were told we were celtic, part of the celtic family.”

Cairney – who was branded a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” by Sheriff Daniel Kelly QC when he was jailed for four years at Hamilton Sheriff Court in February – abused the victim in a car when the boy was 15.

The man, now 60, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has revealed disturbing behaviour exhibited by Cairney in the home dressing room at celtic Park.

He said: “After training, we would all strip and wash in the big, sunken bath in the dressing room. We were all naked .

“Cairney would always then stand at a narrow doorway through to the main dressing room, which had an individual bath next to it.

“He blocked your way.

“But everybody knew he would not let you past until you got into cold water in the bath. You had to go in a certain way, that is facing him.

“It was like he was oggling you. All the boys had to do it.

“He was getting sexual gratification from it. He would stand sooking sweets looking, like he was drooling.

“Another thing he would do would be to whip naked boys with a wet towel. It was a humiliation. He would be laughing as you screamed.

“He would hit you across the backside or the body.”

The victim left Glasgow aged 18. He was abused by Cairney when the beast said he needed to talk to him and would run him home.

Cairney pulled the car over and abused his victim sexually.

The victim has never told his long-term partner, his children or his friends about the ordeal.

And he only later discussed it with other boys once they were away from celtic Park, and Barrowfield, celtic’s then training ground.

He said: ”I was bewildered by it. Stunned. I had always been uncomfortable with what was happening in the celtic Park dressing room but after that time in the car, I dreaded it.”

He says that after the sex attack in the car, Cairney pushed him to one side as far as the team was concerned.

He said: “I knew things had changed but it was never spoken about. In that dressing room were celtic FC coaching staff. Did they never think that things were wrong in that dressing room?

“Every time I saw this one celtic coach with the team on TV, I was back in that dressing room.”

In a victim statement supplied to Sheriff Kelly, the victim said: “What happened to me in 1974 destroyed me, ruined my life, leaving me shocked and full of grief. It is still the same today.

“They say time is a healer. This is the worst cliche I’ve ever heard. Every time I see celtic on TV it makes me think about what happened. It’s horrible.

“I live on my own and don’t socialise. What happened has affected my relationships. I feel this is not fair for me or my ex-partner, who I never told what happened.

“It’s been very hard for me and makes me angry that these people in power have damaged so many innocent young people who only every wanted to play football.”

Cairney’s victim added: “We would train at Barrowfield in the younger age groups and then it was at celtic Park in the dressing rooms and on the pitch there when we were older.

“We also had to sweep the terracings.

“For celtic to say now that they were separate insults me. It damages my soul. If they were proper people, they would get us all together, all the victims, and say, ‘Tell us exactly what happened to you’. Why don’t they do that if they care?”

celtic FC have been contacted for comment on this story.

History of abuse

celtic FC claimed they first became aware of allegations involving Cairney and celtic Boys Club founder Jim Torbett in the 1990s.

Torbett, 71, was jailed for six years in November for a string of sexual abuses on boys.

In May, Jim McCafferty, 73, a coach and kitman for the celtic youth team, who also worked for celtic Boys Club, admitted 12 charges related to child sex abuse against 10 teenage boys between 1972 and 1996.

He was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison.

He was already serving a jail term for abuse. And Gerald King, 66, a former boys club manager, was convicted of abusing children at a school in north Glasgow in December.

He was sentenced to three years’ probation.

Last month, the Record also revealed there is an arrest warrant out for a man, now 75, who claimed to be a celtic FC scout in the late 60s and early 70s.

He is wanted by police over child sex abuse allegations.

celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell recently announced that the Parkhead side’s insurers had appointed a “wholly undependent and experienced lawyer” to investigate the abuse at celtic Boys Club.

It’s inhumane and beyond reasonable comprehension how on analysing this fairly summarised portrayal it the facts ‘anyone’ can form anything but disgust empathy for the victims involved.
