Thermopylae 15,286
Just thinking I can't remember the last time there was a 0-0 in the champions league lol. I know people will say a lot of goals improve the spectacle but defending is half the game and goals that are given away just aren't the same
RFCRobertson 11,705
Just the style of football that's being pushed now a days leaves defenders fairly open to attack. A lot of teams have aggressive play styles with full backs coming up the pitch more often than not leaving CBs exposed. and with the speed of wingers now they're typically left in the dust. EastEnclosureBear 2,894
We got a 0-0 with Barcelona at Ibrox. Messi moaning like a wee bitch in the papers next day.
esquire8 41,914
Very much so when people think that Ramos is the best defender in the world now. That's how far the standard has fallen. 10-15 years ago he wouldn't even get in the top 100. The game has changed too much in favour for the attacker now. Ramos wouldn't have got in the top 100 ....holy fuck! He made his debut for Spain when he was 19 ,the youngest in 55 years he was named on both UEFA and FIFA teams of the year in 2008 he broke the Spanish record for a transfer of a teenager in 2005. Ancelotti has stated he is nearly as good as Maldini, but then again what would he know!

Gaz52 11,837
Too much wanting to play out of trouble in dangerous areas these days. There was nothing wrong with playing a few direct balls for the forwards to chase down if nothing else was on. Now a forward spits the dummy out if he doesn't get the perfect pass and refuses to chase things down
wullyRFC 5,230
A defender can only be judged once he's played next to Kiernan
Blueshoff 11,534
Good defending is just as important, just as much of a skill as smashing a goal from 30 yards or dribbling around three men and slotting home. And my opinion is just as good to watch. A top defensive unit is something to behold!
JamieD 18,732
Let's all take a moment to appreciate some real defending:
OlegKuznetsov 10,816
Absolutely. I don't think that Messi or Ronaldo would have been quite so effective 20+ years ago with the superior defending you had then.

Creampuff 22,628
It'll keep going until teams are conceding too many, then teams will suddenly prioritise defending again. Until they're not scoring enough... Football's constantly changing.
