Absolutely delighted for them. Personally I'd have went with Aidan Wilson over Bates but Bates has a little bit senior experience which probably played a part in the decision. If Ross McCrorie wasn't out on loan I'd have started him. Beerman has really impressed since signing last summer.

The first step along the road to how things should be - a small first team with youth given opportunity (to fail, if necessary) and responsibility to complete a squad. A left-back playing at left-back, no Miller playing without any apparent role

The only drawback to this is having to pitch them in now and relying on the rest to help them out.
