RangersMedia 35,961
...gets racist abuse from Cagliari fans. Complains to the ref. Ref gives him a yellow card . Walks off the pitch and his manager comes out with this shite: "Muntari was right, but he shouldn't have left the pitch. It's not up to us to dole out justice." http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/39766542

Aye, regular stadium closures/fines over there for fan behaviour. 8 minutes ago, giffnockger said: Mental the ref did fuck all.. surely will have to answer to whoevers above him? I can't believe he gave Muntari a yellow for complaining . He'll get hauled over the coals for that.

Dickie1963 2,352
I presume the yellow was for his reaction to ref but he is a grown man and should be above that. Not someone I would want in the trenches. Man up and let the Authorities deal with it

You can clearly hear the monkey sounds from a number of supporters and, alarmingly, eye witness accounts suggest a number of kids participating. East London Loyal 420
I don't understand racism, it's a stupid backward mindset to dislike someone based on their skin tone. Now cultural differences are a different story altogether and that's where division springs up. Italians aren't renowned for being forward thinkers. wullyRFC 5,230
The ref should have waded into the crowd and sorted it out for him there's nothing worse in the world than racism.

tannerall 25,935
Lot's of folk missing the point it took a lot more balls for Muntari to make the huge personal and moral decision to walk off that park with no apparent support. rather than stay on. A brave gesture, and I hope he gets all the praise he deserves for setting that precedent.

tannerall 25,935
Would be a great gesture of support if all the Gers fans at Sundays' Thistle game held up an anti-racism card on the 89th minute then walked out the park with our arms in the air singing "There's only one Sulley Muntari." Perhaps our resident Sun reporter could highlight this on the Sun website ?

If someone came into your work place and started verbally abusing you I would expect you to chin them, but if you were more sensible than that, you would probably take whichever action was most likely to allow you to go about your business free of harassment while avoiding a jail cell, no? Like having them escorted from the premises.
SuperPapac05 3,383
And if this happened in England, UEFA would be quick to shut down the league. It's fucking criminal how much these other nations get away with their serious racism problem.
JamieD 18,935
I have come to realise that black players can't win when it comes to racism. If you kick up a fuss about it after the match, like Evra, you get accused of "playing the race card". If you back up your white team-mate who has been accused of racism, like Ashley Cole, you get called a "choc ice" by a fellow black player. If you actually respond angrily to abuse, like that Partizan player in Serbia, and give the crowd some back in return, you get sent off. If you calmly report abuse to the referee, you get booked and your manager criticises you, along with folk on the internet. Is the only acceptable response to racism to either literally or metaphorically backheel the bananas off the pitch like John Barnes, and pretend you don't care so that white people don't have to bother about it?
