I said build a new facility not have nothing! The price of land in milngavie to somewhere like easterhouse or govan is night and day so the potential for millions to be made is there

The potential to fuck it up is also there. We'd probably lose money on the deal somehow, anyway.

For some new players, being shown round Auchenhowie is the defining reason for signing up at Rangers.

If memory serves me correctly, the original land sale caveated that it would never be given planning permission for domestic abodes, green belt as you say.

If I remember right it was land owned by wos rugby club and can only be used for sports purposes

Daft idea selling anyway it's one of our best assets

As you all know Auchenhowie is based in a exspensive part of the city in milngavie where house prices are extremely high with the average 4 bedroom house roughly costing £400-£500k.  Would it be plausible to sell the 38 acre plot which we own for house development and build a new training complex in a cheaper part or outskirts of the town? (We are constantly being told how much work is required to be carried out at the training complex and that it will cost loads)  I'm not sure if the land is classed as green belt or not but this could possibly be a move which could work well for our finances

just an idea probably a logical reason why this has not been done but just throwing it out there

id heard  achenhowie isn't fit for residential development which makes sense to me given the previous charlatans (Whyte, Green et al) didn't implement what you're suggesting.

There's land around Milngavie available to be built on.

Why would a developer buy ours with the costs of flattening the building, digging out the drainage we put in, and then being unable to build houses on it?

We need to look to spend on our playing squad, sort out the merchandising nonsense, and address issues in  internal departments such as media, pr and marketing. These should be our priorities.

FWIW, I think our greatest teams were trained in the Albion and various other places but hey, the pampered poofs need state of the art nowadays.

Or, you know, the development of sports science and with it understanding of the benefits of a proper training ground.

The Albion was grass mate and had the same square goal posts as Ibrox, I used to watch the reserves play there at times.

Was the outside area ash. Was never inside but have memories of ash in that area.

Couple of things;

1) Does the club actually own Auchenhowie - or is it tied up in a courtroom/share ownership mess somewhere after being hawked off for hee-haw?

2) Auchenhowie is fairly secluded and affords a certain degree of privacy. Can you imagine how long it would last if it were relocated to Govan etc?

No it wasn't.  I trained on the ash park thee and there was a grass park too.

Unlikely they would ever allow housing on it as the objections from locals would be vociferous & EDC tend to cow tow when these locals get together everything from increased traffic the creeping toward Allander Toll/Glasgow & Bearsden in the other side there's only a few fields separate the boundaries right now that "Green Belt" has so many potential nightmares for councillors & Developers when it comes to preserving existing Boundaries. Although the decreasing gap of  EK inward  toward Glasgow despite an initial 2 mile boundary to be maintained is an example of Developers getting things their own way but Milngavie Punters at that end of Auchenhowie I think would have none of it as it could very well be the tip of the iceberg as they see it in loss if Greenbelt to be virtually on the doorstep of Allander Toll /Glasgow & Bearsden.

As housing developments go in Milngavie down the years there aren't many in a large scale that I've saw being approved or built these places tend to keep new builds to an absolute minimum.

So how much are you planning to sell for and rebuild?

Where will the team train when the new facility is built?

why would you want your current squad to move to a facility which isn't as good as the one you've been in?

the priority for auchenhowie is to get naming rights for it with a separate sponsor for the training gear
