Has he actually signed for them yet?? Was under the impression the was joining them for a preseason tour in Austria, but no indication that he is completely joining up with Azerbaijan side at the moment.

99% complete. The only thing that could stop it is a possible language barrier

Probably a combination of money and the chance to experience something different, another culture, learn a language and so on.  Hope it works out for him.

Being fluent in Azerbaijani should come in handy in later life when he moves back to the Copland Road?

Some of you are so cynical

We want him off our books and when we actually find someone willing to take him there's some hidden agenda?

Guy probably just wants first team football with the hopes of coming back and playing a bigger role for his boyhood team.

Maybe the allure of being a big fish in a small pond has attracted him to go there.  He's unlikely to experience that again.   Or it could be the only offer on the table.

It wasn't his only offer. He's already played in lower leagues in England and hated it.

He's never going to be good enough for that to happen

Fair play to Haliday for taking the move. A lot of players would have shat it and fucked off to a league 2 club in England. But he's getting out there and trying something new. Plus he'll be getting a tidy wage, regular games, fuck all pressure and glorious sun and stunning burds.

I read his comments about it and thought he spoke honestly and well. Knows he's not been good enough, doesn't want to sit around taking money and not playing, wants an opportunity to show he's worth of a place at the club. Even if it doesn't work out his attitude is the correct one.
