Lots of chat down here that he's about to get the chop.

DennyBlueNose 652
That's the nature of the beast these days especially down south, you're only ever about 3 games from the bullet.....except if you're Arsene Wenger that is.
ElBufalo20 7,875
Pathetic from a chairman. I know he's had a bad start but if you bring in someone like de boer then obviously the football philosophy of the club will change and that takes time. If you appoint him then you need to accept that. No doubt they'll get Allardyce back and play hit and hope and stay up rather than trying to progress as a football club. You dont get time in the PL now mate. The ££££ is too much to get wrong and persist with.
Negri's lovechild 13,825
Ridiculous though when they are bringing in a manager who is known for a philosophy that a lot of the players he had did not fit into.
Loyaleastend 3,260
It's a brutal business nowadays, all that matters is money, never used to be so obvious but now it's profit or you're sacked.

BlueSuedeSambas 53,749
He was never a good fit for them but if he gets sacked his reputation as a manager might never full recover. Crystal Palace lends itself to a manager who likes organised, direct and physical football, you can see that not only because of their squad but also because of the way their ground is set up with a narrow pitch and the fans close to the pitch. IMO that's why Allardyce, Pulis & to a lesser extent Warnock (at Championship level) all did so well there in recent years.
graeme_4 34,350
It's a shame for him, but results have been awful - and you can't risk being relegated with billions at stake.

Completely correct, however, if that's the case and you know the calibre or type of player you have, you don't then make a decision to bring in someone to change the footballing philosophy, that takes time that you then tell them they have none of. Stupid board level decision making but part and parcel of the English league money making circus.
theiconicman 2,975
De Boer seems another Warburton football purist. Needs to realise you need to do your job (win games) while developing your ethos. Pragmatic while playing the long game.
philiprfc 1,799
You don't get any time in the PL. even for the smaller teams. There's just too much money at stake to drop out of the league.

Agreed what did he expect with De Boer managing Allerdyce's players, you would find it hard to find two managers with a more different style off football! De Boer deserves a couple of transfer windows to get his own players in but unfortunately we all know in football these days he's never going to get it, blame should lie with the chairman on this one though. Terry Hurlock Loyal 12,133
De Boer will go onto bigger sides than Palace will ever be. He has too much class and experience to be left out for long, should never have accepted that job at all.

Tenerife Bear 1,748
If truth be told he was a ridiculous appointment for Palace. There is nothing in that relationship which suggest they suit each other. They are relegation fodder, certainly bottom half of league team and needed a man with experience and a track record of punching above his weight and surviving. A Michael O'Neill, Neil Warnock type. De Boer had a few good years at the biggest and richest club in Holland, he's done nothing else in the game, a flunk at Inter and a flunk now at Palace, his next move has to be a success or his managerial career could be over. He was a fool to accept that job.

Spot on, how did palaces board expect him to play his style of expansive football with a side built by Allardyce, Pardew and Pulis? Given he had already knocked back jobs at Spurs and Liverpool it was a surprise he took it.

jintybear 8,536
I'm actually half laughing at the responses here! We are talking about sacking our manager by Christmas if he doesn't beat the tims at the end of this month! Where's Pedro 's couple of windows?! Unfortunately that's the nature of the beast and don't kid yourself if De Boer was here that we would be saying anything different. We would be wanting him sacked too!
