“Obtained from Glasgow Rangers and considered by many judges as one of the cleverest forwards in Scotland. Can play inside forward, but his natural position is outside left. One of the best captures made by Liverpool. A classy footballer, who indulges in quoiting during the summer months.”

Quoiting was a game for men used to hard physical labour. Quoits were made of cast iron or steel and weighed 10lbs or more, and were thrown at a metal pin 21 yards distant in an attempt to encircle it.
