Popular Post Deanzmeanzheinz 4,312
Willie Thornton, just turned 16 signed for Rangers that morning. After signing, Bill Struth instructed him to go straight back to school and finish his studies. Here's Willie doing just that with his two mates. Weeks later in 1936 Thornton made his debut against Patrick Th. Alongside him was another debutant, 15yr Willie Waddell. Together they spent their whole playing careers with Rangers spearheading the Rangers attack culminating in the first ever Scottish treble being won in 1948 willie's playing career was interrupted by World War 2. He served his country with distinction receiving the Military Medal for his bravery. Later in his career he again teamed up with Waddell as his asst manager in the late 1960's. He and Waddell stayed close friends throughout their lives and passed away weeks apart in 1990 Willie Thornton never made the Rangers Dream Team but I suspect that was because very few of the voters ever seen him play. He is however a true Rangers Legend harlands plater, WWTC, glasgow argyle and 11 others

Won the 'clean sweep' of domestic trophies - League Championship, Scottish Cup, Glasgow Cup and finally, the Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup. 8 hours after clinching the Charity Cup they set sail on a tour of North America winning all 14 games scoring 68 goals in the process. Some of our most legendary players are in that picture Fleming, Gray, Meiklejohn, McPhail, Morton et al Another cracking photo. Robert Hamilton the left back (he is 3rd from the right in the front row) was the father of a late friend of mine. Popular Post Deanzmeanzheinz 4,312
It's the 29th March 1975. 40,000 Rangers fans have headed for Easter Rd hoping to clinch the league championship for the first time since 1964 and stop the dhims bid for 10 in a row. Bobby McKean has just crossed from the right hand touchline and big Colin Stein leaps like a salmon to equalise with around 20mins to go. That point secured the title and Rangers then went on to win their 3rd treble the following season. We can do this again lads, stay together. 72barca, BLUEDIGNITY, mearns loyal and 4 others

Glenn Hoddle was outside the main door chatting and signing everything shoved in front of him," Haw Glenn goat a photae" was one request "no sorry why?" "So I can put it on my mantelpiece and keep the weans away from the fire Everyone pissin themselves apart from Hoddle who never had a clue what was going on, he was some player though.
